GE Washer/Dryer Stack - Smell of burning and some white smoke

So I ran the dryer on Friday afternoon then a load in the washer on Saturday morning. After the wash stopped I smelled a burning odor (kinda like burnt toast in a toaster smell). When I opened the dryer some white powder substance came out. I called the GE repair man and he could not find anything. My concern is that I have one year old and the unit is by the only exit door. Any solutions?

SOURCE: Foul Smell from my GE Adora Washer..!

Having the same problem as everyone else , I make a habit of cleaning the filter once a month. I would like to advise people that if your load is heavy (such as scatter rugs) they will not spin out completely even when the filter is cleaned. No more GE for me!!

SOURCE: Moldy smell in front load kenmore washer

I had the same problem. Have you cleaned the filter under the front panel? Simply remove the three screws holding the panel below the door and remove the 2" white screwcap. Be sure to have a basin handy to catch the water. (possibly a couple of gallons if the stainer is really clogged) I suspect you'll find several moldy items that are causing the odor. Good luck.

SOURCE: washer stopped spin cycle smell like burning rubber

hello if the belt is broken quite easy to put back on .take the back off you should see the belt if it has snaped or just come off .at the bottom of the washer you should see the motor at the back of the motor you should see 2 nuts this holds the motor on get a felt tip pen and mark the 2 nuts where they are fixed so you know where to tighten back on . get spanner and loosen the 2 nuts the motor should drop down put the belt back on and tighten up good luck

SOURCE: Musty smell

I had this same problem and it drove my crazy. It turned out to be a buildup of fabric softener gunk under the automatic fabric softener dispenser. If you have not done so, I recommend you remove the dispenser and check under it to look for residue...most likely it is there. This residue creates the most God awful odor that I refuse to even use the dispenser anymore...it's the good old Downy Ball for me.

I hope this works for you, as I know this situation is very irritating.

SOURCE: GE washer stopped spinning and smell of burning out lingered

I am going through this right now and best I can tell..needs a new belt. Pop the front off of your washer (UNPLUG IT FIRST:)) and see if there are black shavings on the bottom. The appliance place where we usaully order our parts from do not carry this belt in stock so it will have to be ordered. Price from them was $19.00+ tax

What mosel can I purchase to replace teh GE wsxh208a washer so I can stack teh dryer that still works

Sorry You 'll have to remove the dryer to allow access to the washer's inner components. It takes two but the dryer isn't that heavy.

My washer is emitting a sewer like smell. what is that from and what do I do? It is a stackable

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @ 17:36 Friday afternoon.
Does the water vent/drain into the same plumbing as a sink? If so I definitely suspect the sink u-tube needs a flush-out!
Hope this cures it!

GE spacemaker dryer won't start

Have you tried keepin the dryer door open, depressing the safety switch which enables the dryer to work when it is closed, and then turn on the dryer to see if it turns at all? Sometimes its the smallest things that cause these problems. That switch that gets pressed when the door closes, sometimes malfunctions. Sometimes the door of the dryer gets out of whack and doesnt really make contact with the switch enough to trigger the flow of electricity.

Whirlpool noise

Ok can you take the front panel of the washer off easily?

If you can look for the motor pump assembly. Start the washer with no load, turn the water level down to the small and fill with water when it goes into agitation does it make the noise? if not turn timer to spin and see if motor makes the noise.

One other thought, maybe the smell is coming from the dryer?

Let me know. I wont be on line again until Friday Sorry
