Sony PSP Tips and Tricks

<ul> <li>The PSP is the hottest little handheld around right now. The PlayStation Portable Handheld system is very impressive and plays great games, music and movies. Additionally, the system does have a few tricks as well. Here are a couple of things you can try, some are fairly simple. Please note you must be careful with some of these tricks and they will be marked by a <b>*</b> before the "<i>how to</i>" area. Due to the price and the sensitive LCD screen always use caution when trying anything below.</li></ul> <i>While these tips are listed here, please do not attempt them if you are uncertain about any aspect of them. </i><br /> Jam to Tunes Using Your Car Stereo System Speakers <ul> <li> Use the following instructions to play your PSP games and movies with your cars audio system. <br /></li></ul>You will need a <i>FM modulator</i>, a cable with a <i>male stereo 1/8" headphone connector</i> at one end and <i>split left and right RCA connectors</i> at the other. The red wire with the 'in' line fuse goes to your car battery or switch. The ground wire grounds to the frame. Set the car's CD or tape deck to the FM frequency that is on the modulator. The frequency is usually 88.7 or 89.1. Plug the RCA connectors from the cable into the RCA jacks on the modulator. Plug the headphone end of the cable into the PSP. Turn on the PSP with the volume set at half way. <br /> The PSP's sound goes through your car's antenna. No extra wires are needed nor are any other adjustments. Your games, music and movies will now play through your car's stereo speakers. Please note: take care when trying this and make sure you know how to use the modulator and know the right way to hook up the wire to the fuse box and ground wire. If this is not done right, this can damage or even short out the PSP. This one is for parents!<br /> Changing the Save File images <ul> <li>Whenever you save a game, one or two pictures are created on your memory stick: ICON#.PNG - the 144x80 icon displayed when you select your saved file. The #, normally 0, may be higher if a game places multiple saves in one folder. PIC 1. PNG - the 480x272 background that's displayed when you cursor over your save or game disk. Knowing this, you can customize your save icons and backgrounds by simply replacing them with new . PNG files. However, make sure that you keep the new file less than or equal to the original file's resolution, or the PSP will cut off sections to make it fit.</li></ul><br /> <ul> <li> First Connect your PSP to your PC. Then locate the save file you want to change. All saves are located in the <b>PSPSAVEDATA</b> folder, divided into separate sub folders to keep necessary files together. Once you've found the save icon you want to change, add .ori to the end of the file name, in case you ever want to change it back to the original. Resize the image you want as you're save icon to 144x80 and save it as a .PNG named ICON#.PNG - "<i>where <b>#</b> was the number found on the file you renamed</i>". Then move the new picture into your save folder.</li></ul><br /> <br /> <ul> <li>Now, whenever you see your save files on your PSP, its icon will be the picture you changed it to. Use the same method to change PIC 1.PNG files to your own custom pictures, but remember that the resolutions must be at most 480x272. *Please note this is a bit complicated and could result in losing all saves if not done correctly. <i>This tweak is really for those who have knowledge of using these types of files. Please use caution when attempting this or have someone that knows how to work with these files help you</i>. </li></ul> Choosing a Background Color and Keeping it the Same <ul> <li><b> </b><img src="mike_alozie_1.jpg" />The PSP will change colors of the background screen every month automatically. You can pick a color that you like and have it stay that way. Simply go into the settings and select the month that has that color, when it changes, reselect the month. Note: Your date will always be wrong, but if color and style is your concern, this simple tweak does the trick.</li></ul>

Flashdrive keeps deleting

With all the hours and effort put into progressing in a video game, protecting your saved files becomes an important matter.

Creating a backup on a flash drive ensures that your game will be preserved. Having a copy is also handy if you get a new computer or if you merely want to keep your character safe for a sequel that allows you to import your progress from a previous game.

While you cannot save a game to a flash drive while playing, transferring or copying a saved game file to a flash drive is a simple process.

Locate the saved game files on your hard drive.
The location will depend on the game that you are playing (see Below)

Tips & Warnings

BioWare games save within the "BioWare" folder created in the My Documents folder.
Most games purchased through Steam will be saved under Program Files>Steam>Steam Apps>[Username.]

A Game independently installed will likely create its own folder within Program Files.
You may need to visit the game developer support site to help track down that game's specific location.
Open your flash drive.
Click and drag the entire saved game folder to the flash drive to make a copy.

Depending on the amount of file data, this may take a few minutes to complete.
Do not delete this folder on your hard drive or uninstall the game until you have verified that the saved game files work on other computers.

To transfer the saved game, plug the flash drive into a computer with the same game installed. Open your flash drive. In a separate window, open the same directory location where you found the saved game on the other computer.

Click and drag the saved game folder on your flash drive to the game folder on the new computer.
If a window pops up asking if you would like to overwrite similarly named files, click "Yes."

I need to reinstall the software but don't won't to lose all my pets (one just had 4 babies). Is there a way around this? IS there a file I can save somewhere else, then add it back in when I reinstall?

I can't tell you from experience because I have never played that particular game. However any other game i've ever played where you save your progress, there is always a profile or saved game file.

You will want to open My Computer-->C:/ (hard drive)-->Program files--> Ubisoft-->Petz in there you will find a file or folder with an obvious name (user name, profile name, saved game) something along those lines. Save the entire folder if there is one or just the single file to your desktop, reinstall the game....when you reinstall just make sure you put the file or folder back exactly where you found it.

Note:: You may need to start a new profile when you reinstall, afterward just put your saved file back where it belongs for it to work properly. (Sometimes the game needs to create the profile folder or saved game folder in the directory.)

***** Last thing is when you do uninstall the game it may ask you if you want to delete user settings and saved game files. If it does click no, that way you won't have to worry about loosing your stuff at all.

Hope this helps, post back if you need any further assistance. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

I downloaded the philips media converter but it does not recognize my gogear vibe.it says to connect a philips device to the system which i did.my device is SA1VBEO4K/17

I had the same problem. I finally discovered what to do, as nobody seemed to know what to do, even Philips. Here is what I did to get the program going, even though it didn't see the connected GoGear Vibe (which Songbird did see as connected.)
1) Find where your Media Converter is installed. Mine was located at C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\Media Converter for Philips2) Locate the file named "MediaConverter.SET", which is in the folder mentioned in step 1.3) Use a text editing program, like notepad, to open the file you found in step 2.4) Within the file, locate the line that says "ProfileNeedActivation=1". In my file, it was on the 31st line.5) Change the line from "ProfileNeedActivation=1" to "ProfileNeedActivation=0" That is, change the number 1 to the number 0 (zero, no the letter O)6) Save the file.7) Run the program & enjoy.
A couple of notes: You may not be able to save the file once you're done editing. On my system, there were permission issues preventing me from saving the file directly. When I tried to save, notepad informed me that I couldn't save in the folder, and offered to allow me to save to my Documents folder. I did that, then copied the file from my Documents folder into the correct folder, as found in step 1. When copying, I chose to copy and replace the file. When I did so, the system required Administrative rights, which I allowed. That worked.Another point to pay attention to, if you use notepad to do the editing... When you go to save the file, it will default to saving as a .txt file. That is, it will take your file named "MediaConverter.SET" and try to save it as "MediaConverter.SET.txt". Make sure you either rename the file properly when you're done, or select the file type of *.* (as opposed to *.txt) when you save.
Ok, hope that helps save someone else the frusteration.

Lg ks360, cant get music playing off memory card

Connect USB lead, open "My Computer" access the memory card on "Removable disk (G)" - This will list the files in the "Music" folder. Open up my computer again & drag the files from the "Music" folder to the "Sounds" folder. When you then disconnect the USB the files will be in the "Sounds" section of the Media Album on the phone and can be played back. Hope this is of some use.

Your can copy the saved game file in the saved games folder of SIMS to another location so your kid need not repeat her game. Then just re-install the SIMS application and copy back the saved game file to the saved game folder of SIMS.
