Macbook wont turn on, burning smell

Was using my macbook while it was charging at the same time. then it made a small electrical sound and turned off really suddenly. i then noticed a really faint burning smell coming from but the computer didnt feel like it had overheated, it was slightly warm underneath where the battery is located but nothing unusual. the charger did feel quite hot though. ive tried everything to get it to turn back on and it wont.

Mine popped, went blank, gave the whiff of burning insulation and would not fire up again. Called Apple and it is repaired under warranty. Seemingly, a blown capacitor or resister, probably on the power supply side of things. Guy said that he knew of a couple of these same failures.

Apple Store called me to and said: The Mainboard is burnt ... so I have to wait 8 very long days to get it fixed.

i think that the battery has had its last run. Plus the computer want into safe mode and froze and force shut down. this is not bad. this just means you have o get a new battery cord. i have had the same issue.
CATION: charging again may result in sizzling or fire.

If it smells like plastic burning. Stop using it immediately. As there could be an electrical short or overheating of the unit. If doesn't smell like plastic burning, you'll need to be more descriptive of what the odor smells like.

Speakers humming. No reception.

The audio amplifier in the unit has failed, and that's what you smell. Turn it off and quit using it immediately - it presents a fire hazard. It might be possible to replace the bad parts. Depending on what it cost, you might want to take it somewhere for a repair estimate, but be prepared to learn it might not be fixable. Often the burned parts damage the circuit board as well.

Usually this happens in small stereo systems because of running them at high volumes for a long time. If you want to listen to loud music, you would be better off putting the money into a higher-power system.
