GE model JVM2070SK02 touch pad not working

The touch pad does show the clock working and lights on when I open the microwave door but when I press the buttons, nothing happens. The fan and light buttons do work though.

Most people, and GE will tell you these are not repairable and you must replace the whole unit for $300 - 500. I can fix them. If you are interested, let me know. [email protected] I can only fix the touchpad not working and it must not be physically damaged. You must be able to take out the control panel and send it to me. It is easy (3 screws and electrical connectors).

Had Matt do the work and was very impressed with the speed of return! Touchpad is working and I saved hundreds of $$ by keeping my microwave working longer. Thanks, Matt!! Happy Customer here!

Had Matt fix mine also. Cost about $150 including shipping to/from. Issue happened again after 7 months; wrote Matt and email asking a few questions and never heard back. Buying a new microwave oven for about $300 - should have gone that way in the past. Can't afford to keep paying $150 every few months.

I had the very same problem on a Model JVM2070CH02 (manufactured February 2006) and followed the advice on this page--I contacted eM-Ka Ventures. The owner, Matt Fadorsen, is wonderful!!! He provided instruction on how to remove the control panel (a 5 minute or less task) and repaired and returned my panel in like-new condition within eight days. And it only cost $100!!! A real bargain when you consider GE wanted $80 to make a service call and a local parts distributor quoted me $548 for a new panel that they would have had to order. For anyone having a problem with their touchpad on a GE microwave, I most certainly and highly recommend Matt Fadorsen at eM-Ka!!!

I have the same issue and same model JVM2070SK02. What did they actually fixed for you? Did they replace the touch pad in the control panel?

The door switches should be checked, a common problem with this brand.

GE Above Range Profile Microwave 1. Microwave is off. 2. Microwave comes on when door is opened.

If anything other than the light comes on when you open the door, unplug it immediately. Can you supply the model number and more detailed information about what's happening? For instance, you hear the transformer come on or the carousel starts turning.. Does the touch pad take input when you press buttons?
Note: if it's just the light coming on and making no sound, it could be possible it's in clock mode, waiting to have the time entered. If you press clock again, it would go to normal operating mode and work.
Please let us know.. Hope this helps.

I cannot get the GE microwave clock to set! Help?

To set the clock on most GE microwaves:
1 With the microwave door closed, press CLOCK.
2 Touch number pads that reflect the time of day (1:45 would be 1, 4, 5).
3 On some newer models, indicate AM or PM for morning or evening.
4 Press CLOCK or START to lock in the time.
If you prefer not to display the time:
Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock. If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.

My daughter's GE Model JVM2070SK02 failed to shut off this morning which ignited a muffin that was in the microwave. She stated that she had been having problems with it that that required unplugging the...

It sounds like a cook relay stuck closed and this is why it continued to cook. When the door was opened it should have blown the monitor fuse (which is how it is designed to for safety) so that it cannot cook when the door is open. Or, a cavity temp fuse was blown due to the fire inside. Also a safety feature.

GE, Model# PVM2070SM1SS microwave - touch panel does not respond

GE has a special program, and your microwave is very likely a part of this program. Please contact GE consumer relations asap at 800-386-1215, at the prompt press 5. Our same microwave model has that problem. GE is replacing the entire microwave free of charge.
