I have a ingersoll rand 231c 1/2 impact wrench that is almost brand new, have had no problems with daily use until today when the trigger will not move.

The IR231c is equipped with a throttle valve stem (item # 9) that is prone to oxidation and causes a stuck trigger condition. Remove the air strainer assembly (item # 10), followed by the spring (item # 8) then the throttle valve (item # 6) you will see the throttle valve stem (item # 9) spray some penetrating lube, if severely stuck it may be necessary to remove the trigger and pushing the throttle valve stem from the top.

Looking for the reverse button cannot find a part number

Try looking for a owners manual on the web under"Rand 213-KS- 1/2 ' Super duty air impact" or contact Rand.

It turns weakly to loosen, and not very strong to tighten.Have removed the air chuck, and it is not plugged

Check to see that the power regulator dial is set to its highest number. The forward/reverse selector is also the power regulator and can be turned from 0 to usually 5. Look at your impact gun from the side and you should see the numbers next to the forward/reverse knob.

This is the manual for the 231C Impact Wrench.

There is a barrel that goes across the impact in the back, you can press this from right to left an vice versa. If the barrel will not move there may be damage inside and further inspection is necessary.

Air Drill Problems

Squeeze 4-5 drops of pneumatic tool oil into the air fitting daily. If you use the tool all day, repeat the process half-way through the day. If you don't use the tool very often, just oil it when the tool is used.
