Sony Handycam DCR-TRV19 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Logo

Sony DCR-TRV19 won't even attempt to eject cassette.

My Sony DCR-TRV19 doesn't respond at all when the cassette 'door' is opened. It simply continues to operate in the mode ("VCR" or "Camera") that it's in. I've tried every combination of powering the camera on/off in an attempt to "reset" it somehow, yet I always get the same result. It acts as though it's "brain" isn't being told that the door is opened. What mechanism does the door actuate to inform the camera to eject the cassette. Prior to this happening I did have a problem getting it to record/play properly: it asked for a cleaning cassette too. Currently, the camera records and plays back (although sometimes with 5 horizontal gray bars across the screen). Any advice?

DCR TRV140E is a Digital8 camera
CCD TRV87E is a Hi8 camera,
(Hi8 is an analog format)
the tapes are the same size, wont help, the recording systems are not compatible
send them to a lab service ?maybe if there are only a few
or ebay a Hi8 camera and transcode them yourself

its not a solution, at least it clarifies the problem

SOURCE: DCR-TRV19 compatible with an apple computer?

Hi heather719,

Unfortunately, the DCR-TRV19 is only compatible with windows - see the list of compatible versions at this address:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV19

The only compatibility it has with Macs (and it doesn't always work) is to view still images via USB cable. In order to do this, you must manually install the required drivers from the software CD on your Mac. See the user's manual for instructions on how to do this:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRTRV19.pdf

The reason the video playback is not compatible with Macs is that you have to use an iLink cable, which is Sony's version of an IEEE 1394 ("Firewire") cable, and the iLink is only compatible with PCs (since that's what Sony makes).

If you want to get content from the tape in your camera onto a Mac, you must either:
1) Load it onto a PC, save it to a portable memory device, and transfer it, or...
2) Connect a MiniDV deck to your Mac, take the tape out of your camera, and put in the deck (like a VCR).

I'm sorry I can't give you better news - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H

SOURCE: SONY CAMCORDER DCR-TRV19 DOESN'T WORK ON WINDOWS

The Windows 7 Operating System is not compatible with the USB Streaming feature of the Camcorder.

You can transfer the videos to the Windows 7 Computer using an i.LINK (Firewire) Cable.

You can use the Windows Movie Maker Software to transfer the videos from the Camcorder.

Please follow the steps mentioned in the below link to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer

What would cause a sony dcr trv120 zoom button not

There is control switch block that has zoom/wide switch along with play, rewind, forward, stop, pause buttons and this switch block flip up and down while ejecting/ load tape in camcorder, this will be replaced as zoom/wide switch got defective and sending continues command of zoom to system control chip.
Let me know if you need part number of switch block control for DCR-TRV120

Cassette does not eject

Either the tape is jamed round sound head, or the door is stuck with somthing like a handle of the case on side of camera, but sounds like tape stuck, run film backward a little (not forward) as more tape will get stuck in forward motion.

Manual eject option for trv320? No tape in it. Won't open so I can put one in.

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.
IMPORTANT: If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery from the camera.
  3. Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
  4. Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR , VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
  5. Slide the power switch back to the OFF position.
  6. Connect the AC power supply to the camera.
  7. Attempt to open the cassette compartment.
