SOURCE: how do i put a tape recording onto the pc?

dg9dotorg is correct about the memory card. The memory card and USB cable can be used to transfer still images only. To transfer the video you need a DV cable (also called a Firewire cable).

If your PC is relatively new it most likely has a firewire port. If it does not then you'll need to purchase a firewire card.

You will also need software to capture the video. I use Scenalyzer. You can download a demo version of this software at no charge. The link is http://www.scenalyzer.com/

The demo version is fully functional, but it will put a watermark on your video.

Good luck.

Open your view finder screen. There is a button there that says video/memory. push it down to the memory. The record button is at the back to the upper right of the battery. Hope this helps.

How can I download video shot on the cassette of a Canon MV530i to either the SD card in the camera or directly on to my windows 8 laptop

Tape video recorders are unfortunately old technology. The SD card is probably only for still pictures. I doubt if a Windows 8 laptop is designed to accommodate it either in hardware or software. If you bought the camera new, you were probably supplied with a disk containing download/capture software. Video sent to a tape is not a fully digital file in the sense that it is not read by computers and has to be captured when you play it back into the computer and turned into a video file. See if you can get a Firewire attachment or adapter -possibly into the laptops HDMI socket. The usb on the camcorder is probably just a charging point. If not, ask a friend with a desktop computer if he would be prepared to fit a firewire card -about 12UKP in UK, and capture it for you on their machine. Via Firewire, even the most basic editing suites have a capture function, and you can save the video as MP4 or AVI etc. The alternative is to take the tapes to a commercial transfer outlet -in the UK Timpsons the shoe repair people advertise this service, and they will put everything on a dvd for you.

Samsaung camcorder playback on apple mac

Hi Dianne
-First off make sure what 'formatt' the Samsaung camcorder you are using was recording in. The most common 'formatt' currently being used by camcorders is AVCHD.
-You then need to confirm that your Mac has a version of iMovie that is compatible new enough to recognize this formatt (if your computer was purchased in the last 3 years it should be)..., if not you will probably need to install a newer version of this software.
-If your Samsaung video files were recorded onto SD cards vs the cameras internal memory..., it is easiest to remove the card and then download to the computer..., via a card reader or via the computers 'built in' SD card reader.
-The important thing is to create a folder on your desktop and drag the files you want to download to this file..., do not try to import directly to iMovie (if you try to import directly to iMovie..., this is where problems often occur).
-Follow these steps and you should have no issues.

Someone did my wedding video, it wont finalize, but plays back on the camcorder. She lent me the camcorder, along with usb cord and software. I cannot get the data from the disc to transfer to my...

Unfortunately, only video and/or pictures from your (SD Memory) Card can be transferred (via the USB cable) to your computer. Video/pictures from a disk is not accessible to your computer.
So, you may wish to try to playback the video (on the camcorder) with the output to a DVD recorder (using the AV cables from the camcorder to the DVD recorder or a VCR recorder). This assumes you have a DVD recorder (or VCR recorder) that will take the RGB input from the camcorder. Connect it up just like you're viewing the playback on a TV monitor.

Cannot copy video from JVC GZ-HD6 camcorder to DVD Recorder

If you can play the vision on your tv via an av connection you should be able to record it onto the recorder. the recorder can record anything thats being played on the tv even if the other device is connected to the tv via another av connection. try this & see if it works.

I am using an sd card when i hit the record button it says cannot record video on the model number DZ-GX5020

Sorry, but as far as I know, Hitachi camcorders cannot record video directly onto an SD card. You have to set the camcorder to DVD. It can only record video and pictures on a DVD, and only pictures on an SD card.

Panasonic camcorder

I'm no expert, but I don't think you can do that with just the video camera alone. First you'd have to pass your video onto a computer using dv motion studio and then you can put that output file onto a sd card. I don't think it would be possible to play that video off the card on the camera. Hope that helps
