Yesterday I tried to turn my TV on and it did nothing except display the red standby light in the front of the unit ( when the set turns on like it should the red light turns green). I unplugged the unit from the outlet, waited 10 seconds, and plugged it back into the outlet and the TV turned on. Today I tried to turn my unit on and nothing happened except the red standby light like yesterday. The unplugging and plugging thing did not work either as it did yesterday. I did notice that when I plug the TV in to the outlet I can hear a high pitched sound coming from the back of the set, but when I push the on/off button nothing happens except the red standby light. The TV is dead in the water.
Please Help!
The only solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to [email protected]

Find and replace the following caps, Ec18, 19, 20 / 1000uf/16v,
Ec9, 10 / 1000uf/35v, Ec14, 25 / 470uf/35v should resolve the problem. You can get the caps at almost any electronics supply.
This is a common problem in this unit.
Good Luck!
Happy Thanksgiving!

I have an Akai model LCT32Z4ADP was doing the samething.
I have found two Capacitors CS23 and CS24 (1000uf ,10v) blown) on the power supply board. I have already removed them, but I haven't yet replaced these two components. More trouble shootings to be done.
