My Maytag Heavy duty 4 speed select, 10 cycle washing machine agitates while in spin cycle why?

If your Maytag washing machine is agitating during the spin cycle, it could be due to a few different issues. Here are some possible causes:
  1. Defective Transmission: The transmission in the washing machine is responsible for shifting the agitator and the drum between the spin and agitation cycles. If the transmission is defective, it may not be able to engage or disengage the agitator properly, causing it to spin during the spin cycle.
  2. Worn Drive Belt: The drive belt connects the motor to the transmission and helps to control the speed and direction of the agitator and drum. If the belt is worn or damaged, it may not be able to properly control the agitator, causing it to spin during the spin cycle.
  3. Malfunctioning Clutch: The clutch in the washing machine helps to regulate the spin and agitation cycles. If the clutch is not functioning properly, it may not be able to disengage the agitator during the spin cycle, causing it to spin along with the drum.
  4. Faulty Timer: The timer controls the various cycles and functions of the washing machine, including the spin and agitation cycles. If the timer is faulty, it may not be able to properly sequence the cycles, causing the agitator to spin during the spin cycle.
It's best to have a professional technician inspect and diagnose the issue to determine the exact cause and the necessary repairs.

Washing machine won't spin, drum is turning when washing.

The timer unit needs to be replaced. the timer is the dial you turn to set the machine to wash.

Machine will wash but not drain or spin.

machine wont spin while it has water in my advice is to lay the drain pipe level with the floor (outside of your house) so it can drain if it doesnt drain then you have a blockage anywhere from the drum outlet into the pump to the watse pipe if it does drian then take the pump apart and check it turns freely

Washer will nolt go in to spin after water is pump out...can get it to work if I look safty on.. and spin tub by hand and it will start to turn...

if you can hear the motor trying to start the drum spinning you might be able to do that. if your not hearing the motor trying to turn the drum, then there is something wrong in the timer switches. This timer switch is not all that difficult to replace if you get the proper and exact replacement part

My hoover galaxy washing machine stops when clothes are not balanced properly.i have to even out the clothes then start the machine.if the clothes are balanced it finishes its cycle.if not the machine...

Hi

It is normal for the drum to sway excessively and hit the balance switch if the load is not evenly distributed around the drum or if you have excess cloths.

Once the balance switch is trigerred, you can reset by openning and closing the door. It is a safety mechanism which stops the spin cycle if the drum sways excessively.

If this tends to happen often, then you need to make sure the machine is properly balanced and not leaning too much to the back.

Also the drum suspension rods do tend to wear out over time and loose their firmness, causing the drum to sway excessively. You can check this by opening the lid. Pushing down and from side to side onto the agitator, and seeing if their is a firm bound on the drum. Also making sure the drum returns to centre position. If the suspension springs feel loose and wayward, then they will need replacement.

Hotpoint WD61 stops near start of wash cycle

all in the timer. but there may be nothing wrong. sometimes in the cycle there will be a gap between water full and agitate or between drain and spin depending on settings. try it again and let it go and if there is a gap of more than 5 minutes than it needs a timer. most machines timers are right around $75 and you can most likely replace it yourself. sears appliance parts is the place to buy it. you can order it and they will deliver it to your door. or if you can get the phone # most of the outlets have a parts dept. also they take parts back for full credit for any reason.
