Problems charging Flashing red light
GoPro battery dead. Won't charge in the camera. No charge light comes on when you connect the camera to a USB. There's the scenario. Good tip on the GoPro battery shocking technique posted by Rabscuttle above. I discovered that my vehicle USB cigarette lighter adapter drains the GoPro battery when it's turned off. With the GoPro battery completely dead, the camera will not charge it. If the GoPro battery voltage falls below a certain point, the camera's circuitry is set to turn off the internal charger as if there's no battery in the camera at all. The recommended solution is to buy an external charger, which is able to charge a completely dead battery. The battery shocking method saves that expense.
Connecting a 9 volt battery to the GoPro battery for 30 seconds can give the battery enough charge to allow the camera to recognize the battery. A 9 volt battery from a smoke detector, a pair of jumper leads, and two straight pins is what I used to get my GoPro battery charged enough to allow the camera to recognize the battery and begin charging.

the batteries lose their memory and need to be shocked back to life.. Here's the fix:
"Hi,I just found a soultion on another website and it appears to have worked for me.Apparently the battery loses it memory when fully discharged,to fix this take a 9v battery and place the terminals + to + and - to - with the camera battery for 30 seconds or so then put the battery back in the camera and charge as normal.I just did this and it seems to be charging and the red light is solid.hope this helps."

Ive had this happen twice. The first time I went back to the store and talked to the tech people to see if it was a problem with the camera itself but ended up buying a new battery. About a week ago, I finally found my charger to plug in the camera that I hadnt used in weeks to find the same problem once again. It must stem from long periods of non use. After finding this question I continued my research and the Casio website tells you to call 1-800-435-7732. Dont know if that helps much but I will be calling them in a little while. Good luck.

I found this while searching to find an answer to solve my problem. It worked! Some say that it took them about 20 times... it took me about 7. Be patient and just keep trying! Hope this helps!
My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.
