Inside the HP cp1700 printer, there is a wire guide that is part of the carriage assembly and this has come off. It is connected on one end to the ribbon-like cord in the carriage assembly, but I don´t know where the other end is supposed to be connected. Can someone show me a picture of this or tell me how to reconnect it?

You can reattach this band yourself. There are two springy hooks on each side of the printer. They are slanted so that you can position the band with the right side forward.
The band engages in a slot in the cartridge carriage, you have to slide it through. I don’t know whether you can fix the band on the right without taking off the cover of the printer. If you must, then follow the procedure:
1. Open the top cover and unscrew the two screws you find there.
2. Open the back of the printer, locate the two release latches left and right press them and lift the back a couple of millimeters (1/8”)
3. Through the top opening locate the two front latches (plastic tongues) release them by putting a screwdriver blade in the catch and pressing forward.
4. Pull the cover gently there are cables attached to it…

Press the slide between youre fingers and it should move along.
It should be on the left handside and not on the right.

The X-bias spring failure has punctured the ribbon cable in the ink cartridge shuttle. I need a new ink carriage assembly, the part number is C8963-60101. HP does NOT have any more. Where can I get one?

If you lift the top cover on the printer, you can see a wire guide attached to the carriage trailing cable that moves back and forth with it when the printer is printing. One end wraps arond the trailing cable and I don't know where the other end is supposed to be attached.
