Canon powershot sx100is. Error 24 on starting and camera turns off. Can view pictures already taken.

Camera hasn't been dropped or submerged in water. Date keeps going back to factory setting. Changed internal battery and camera worked once. After that, it opens and display goes blank and E 24 appears on screen. Date reverts back to factory pre-set.

SOURCE: Blank black screen for my canon powershot S1 IS digital camera

This is a common problem with S1 IS and it is caused by faulty CCD sensor. Note that you can playback captured images without any problem but in capture mode all you get is blank screen. Will have to go to Canon but note that Canon repairs these models free of charge when it is the CCD sensor that stops working.

SOURCE: Blank LCD screen

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):

Connection from the camera to the computer: powershot SX100is

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

I dropped my canon camera and it says lens error restart again. i dont want to lose my picture but the lens dont go in. i can see my pictures but i cannot take a picture.

Any pictures you have taken in the past should be safely stored on the memory card. Make sure you copy them onto your computer to ensure you don't lose them while fiddling with your camera. You can use either an external card reader or you might be able to connect your camera to a computer using a USB cable.
A lens error is one that the average user can diagnose and fix. It usually requires a trained technician or worse (but sometimes cheaper), a replacement camera. You have already experienced that the camera will not take pictures with the lens error.
Good luck.

I have a Canon Powershot SX100IS.It is the worst

If this is occurring in "Auto" as you say, then the particular camera that you have is defective. If a recent purchase, return it for exchange or refund. If that's not possible, call 1-800-OK-CANON for warranty repair. The SX100 IS actually is a VERY nice camera, and this is very uncommon for a Canon camera. Unfortunately, it sounds like you somehow got one that slipped through the cracks.
