SOURCE: Side by side stopped working but clicling noises every second two.

Ok the motherboard is malfunctioning. Ive observed this exact problem before. Replace the board and all will be normal again. If you keep lettig it click and click it may finally kill that relay that you descibed to me or even worse the compressor itself.

SOURCE: PDS22SBSALSS Clicking Noise/ Temperature Control Panel

It is possible to change out that relay...if your unit has one. This is usually a small plastic box on top of the compressor...but not a round tubular thing...which is the start capacitor. Just make sure you are careful...take out the plug. If you're messing with the capacitor...it has terminals which do contain hazardous voltage. Discharge with a screwdriver across the terminals. Generally, the relay is the thing which gives the symptoms you're facing. Change both and you've probably got it...they're cheap. Not all models have both.

SOURCE: I have a GE side by side fridge. First the water

You have a main control board that is going out . Part number WR55X10942 . The clicking noise , sounds like one of the modules , is shorting occasionally . The control board , is located behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . This board , is easily replaceable .

SOURCE: GE bottom freezer began making a clicking noise, will not run

The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it’s bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it’s bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it’s ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it don’t cost much in most cases (less than $25). If you replace it and it doesn’t work then the compressor is bad and you’ll need you call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). A/c problems

If the refridegerant is low than the compressor will not kick on. If the compressor does not engage the high side pressure will not get high enough for the high side switch to close and turn on the fans.

Cooling fan won't come on when I turn on the AC

Your bigger problem is the compressor not kicking in. The cooling fan is not coming on because there is not enough high side pressure to turn the fan on. I would start by checking power to the compressor, fuses and relays would be inspect. Check to make sure there is the proper charge of refridegerant in the system.

I have a Frigidaire freezer LFFU1424DW not freezing. Came home to melting ice and thawed food. I heard clicking noise like a fan but goes off after a few seconds. Help please.

first of all unplug that freezer and wait for 15 mins. move it five feet from the wall. after 15mins, plug it back and kick in compressor at the same time!!!! remember plug and kick at the same time. the ckicking noise come from the starting relais. this says that the compressor has a problem. If it doesn't work ; you will have to call a service person who will replace the compressor for you.

Fridge noise/

You need to get a repair man to your house ASAP. This noise you are hearing is the compressor start relay and the click sound is the overload protector heating up and shutting it off. You may have a defective relay, or possibly a bad compressor. The relay and overload are attatched to the compressor in the back of the fridge.
Check your owner's manual to see what kind of a warranty you have on the "sealed system" Hopefully the parts at least will be covered should you need a new compressor.
Sometimes if the compressor is bad on these models you can let it sit un plugged for a couple hours and try to re-start it.
Good luck to you!!

Makes a clicking noise and humming when starts up

If your unit is fixed with a high speed compressor and in case you are not using a votage stablizer when ever there is a fluctuation in voltage there could be a click noise from the compressor. Do not frequently open your fridge and slowly the noise will vanish. It tells you that the unit is functioning just like our heart making thud thum thud noise when it functions and nothing to be worried about. It is normal.

Clicking noise approximately 1 second apart

That clicking noise is possibly your compressor overload kicking off because it cannot start the compressor. Most times the start relay or the start capacitor are defective. But because your refrigerator has a mother board located on the back and behind a panel. We need to consider the board is going out. Unplug the refrigerator and pull away from the wall. Remove the screws on the rear panel to expose the mother board. Need to look for burn marks on both sides or a signed that a relay has been over heating. The board is part number WR55X10656
a5ba56b.jpg If we find the board is OK, we can check the other components mentioned, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Compressor cutting out about every 30 to 45 sec

The clicking sound is a relay called PTC relay. You need to replace it. First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken
