My iLive platinum was connected to my Wi-Fi and was working great for over 6 months, now it’s connecting to Wi-Fi but not connecting the speaker and it’s not showing that my same Wi-Fi is unsecured. What...

Sounds like your WiFi settings got changed to unsecure or you have a neighbor with the same WiFi network ID (SSID) that is confusing your iLive platinum.

Try changing the name of your WiFi network and confirm that you have WPA2 security enabled.

It is asking for an access code to an access point . What is that?

Wireless networks can be secure or unsecure. Anyone can connect to an unsecure site simply by searching for available sites and choosing an unsecure one to connect to. There are inherit risks associarted with unsecure sites and you should NEVER do any financial or highly personal transactions on an unsecure network. Secure networks require a password (access code) to complete connection. This code is provided by the owner/administrator of the network. If you are allowed to connect to such a network, you should already be aware of the code. Otherwise you are basically not invited to the party.

I want to secure an unsecured linksys router

Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

How to remove a network/signal?

Connect to the unsecure network, either directly with a cable, or connect via wifi. Once you are connected, open your web browser and go to:

http://192.168.2.1

There should be no password, just hit enter, then you can change the SSID and/or channel, etc.

I pulled the instructions from Belkin support:

Good Luck!

My Router works only if I do not put security password on it.

The router works only if the network is unsecured.
When you secure the wireless network , make sure that you will change the wireless network name also. Because if you change the wireless security and if you keep the same network name then your computer will try to connect to the same network name with the old unsecured settings saved on the computer.
Try to change the SSID ( network name ) and security to WPA, check if that works.
If that doesn't work then I believe you will need to upgrade the FIRMWARE of the router.

Change from 'unsecure' to 'secure' router

You don't need to install anything extra to secure the network. It's a matter of changing router settings. You set up the router through your web browser by going to "http://192.168.0.1" which accesses the device's setup screens.

There are several revisions of this product. Here is the URL for D-Link's selection page for the router:

http://support.dlink.com/products/revision.asp?productid=di-524

Click on the picture that shows the version you have, and then you'll be taken to the page for that version. You can download a manual or look through the FAQ's which will guide you through the process of setting up the security.
