My Acer Aspire 5000 won't turn on. I hit the power button, the light turns on for half a second then blinks off again. The HD doesnt start, neither does the fan and the screen never coms on. The battery is fully charged, I have tried power on with and without the battery, removed and replaced the CMOS battery. Removed and reinsurterd the processor, memory, and HD all while alternating between plug and battery. Battry indicates when charging and when fuly charged as normal. Still, issue remains... Any suggestions?

Same problem, nothing is working. I hibernated the computer, and then from there it went to hell. Please help.

I have the same problem but I can get the laptop to power back on if I disconnect power, remove the battery and hold the power button down for 15 seconds. Cannot stop it from happening though.

I'm having the same problem also. Just had the HD replaced twice in 2 months and have had it back only 6 weeks and it's acting up again. Was working fine then the screen went black. Tried to reboot but the light blinked off before it would reboot. after many attempts, I turned it on again and hit the Cntrl F6 to start up. Sometimes this screen will appear on it's own after start up, sometimes, NOT. started it back up normally and in last known good config. Did system restore on it, Still acts up.. will just shut down whenever. Also getting colored vertical lines thru the display rather than a black screen. Then I have to manually shut down, and then it starts with a system check... sometimes finds an error, sometimes not. then occassionally, I'll get a msg saying system has recovered from a serious error. sighhh. I've ran anti virus, Mcaffe, and also tried Avira, No viruses. Also noticing it's running hot at times, but the fan kicks in. That was replaced last time with the HD too.

Frankly, ACER is JUNK. This is my 4th laptop and the WORST i've ever owned.

Hi,
sounds as if the laptops in hibernation or sleep mode.
Try refering to the user manual regarding the mentioned points.
also try alternating the memory from slot to slot, 1 faulty slot or ram module, will cause the computer not to boot.
Finally, if this is a model that has a ribbon-cable from power switch, to motherboard. ensure it,s inserted correctly/square et,c.

Hope this helps, thankyou for using Fixya.

Ive recently started to use my acer aspire one laptop and it won't charge and the charge light keeps blinking and once it hits the windows screen it turns off

Take it to a best buy or staples, ask them to hook the laptop up to a universal power supply to see if that is your problem.

if so... then you can buy a replacement power supply while you are there

My ACER netbook turns on but the screen remains

After switching off the aa1, when trying to turn it on again, it just shows blinking leds and the fan is turning. But the screen remains black.
If your aa1 does like this probably its BIOS has been damaged...

Luckily the Acer Aspire One has a built-in BIOS recovery routine, making it possible to flash the BIOS even if the system doesn't boot anymore.

Please note that the process I'm about to describe is only meant for emergencies and may void your warranty, so use at your own risk.

1) Format a USB memory key with the FAT mode.
2) Download the latest version of the BIOS from Acer support website:
3) Extract the files from the zip and put both the FLASHIT.EXE and the BIOS file in the root directory of the memory key.
4) Rename the BIOS file to ZG5IA32.FD and then remove the disk.
5) Turn the AA1 off, insert the battery and connect the AC adapter.
6) Insert the USB Memory Key into one of the USB port of the Aspire One.
7) Press Fn+Esc, keep it pressed and press the power button to turn the AA1 on.
8) Release Fn+Esc after a few seconds, the power button will be blinking.
9) Press the power button once. The AA1 will start the BIOS flash, do not interrupt for any reason. After some minutes the power button will stop blinking, and then the AA1 will reboot. Wait till the AA1 has completed all this operations.

If everything has gone right, the BIOS is flashed and all settings are reset to default.

Acer Aspire 5000 was dropped and won't power on

Hi there, I'm afraid that a physical damage affected your laptop.
But anyways, unplug the power cord, and remove the battery. Wait few seconds then push the power button and hold it for 10/15 seconds. Re insert the battery and reconnect the power cord and try to turn it on again.
Good luck

50" philips won't power on. get the 4x red blink led light

i have fixed 3 of this tv, with that exact problem in the last 2 weeks, needs a power supply, you can try to unplug it again, plug it in, hit the power button, as soon as it turns green, unplug it again, after 15 seconds , plug it back in, if power doesnt turn on by itself, turn it on, if it turns red again, emediatily hit power again, may have to hit power a few times in a row, but most of the time you can get it to come on this way, once it is on, it should run ok, until you turn it back off, but not a fix, needs power board
