Bernina Aurora QE presser foot recurring error

We have a Aurora 440QE, and there is a continuing problem with the sensing of the presser foot. We have taken the machine & computer in, and have been told that there is nothing wrong. This after hours of the same presser-foot problem at home. Only to take it home and spend more hours with the same problem. Is this a common problem?

SOURCE: No power on foot pedal

There is no way to change brushes on theses sealed motors and I highly doubt thats the issue. Most likely you didn't put the bobbinwinder back togeather correctly. The small spring type clip under it needs to be in the second notch of the teeth below the bobbinwinder to engage/disengage right. If you had the cover off its also possible you disconnected the wire to the circuitboard for the footcontrol, I beleive its black and red. Probably best for a tech to look at it.

SOURCE: The presser foot came off Brothers sewing machine

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual. If you don't have your manual, you can get it online at www.brother-usa.com

How do I get my BSR to work on my 440QE? I plugged it in, but I don't see a light on the foot. Can't make BSR 2 work? BSR2 is on my screen, but won't run.

Try BSR 1. I have a 440 and only one of the BSR settings works--don't know why--just is.

Manual:

BERNINA aurora 440 QE Support BERNINA

Check to make sure the BSR is firmly plugged into the machine head. Don't know why they made this so difficult. I find I usually have to practically stand on my head to find it and then plug it in.

If it still does not work, perhaps Bernina did not calibrate the BSR to your machine. They recommend, whenever it goes for service, to be sure to bring the buttonhole foot and BSR so they can be calibrated.

I wish to purchase a binder foot, but don't know if I use the old or new style of feet! I have a 440QE which I bought about 10 years ago.

Your 440QE takes the new style Bernina feet (the ones with red writing on them.) Where it attaches to the presser foot bar, the front is flat and the back has a little square cut-out. Be sure you buy the narrow foot not the wider foot (& wider stitch) for the machines with a bigger foot print. (You'll be looking for 5mm wide, not the ones with the bigger foot print--7mm.) I do have a couple of 7mm feet for my 440QE and they do work but I read somewhere that they may be a little *hard *on* the 440, so I don't use them a lot. The 7mm presser foot is wider than the feed dogs on the 440QE.

Bernina has a great "help" site. You can contact them directly for assistance. It sounds like a great machine. There may be one step you are missing. Enjoy it, Kate

Probably too thick to feed without dislodging the bobbin case, causing the error message.

Do I have to buy a Bernina foot in order for it to work on my Bernina Virtuosa 160

Yes. Bernina feet aren't interchangeable with other machines and non-Bernina feet won't fit a Bernina. Sorry.
