Hi,
This has happened because the safety feature has stuck.
There is a circuit that must be completed in order to stop people putting their hands in while on.
If you can check that the door sells and connection is clean and clear that may help otherwise unfortunately either a replacement or an electrician is needed for this one.

I know this would not have helped but it is the only way.

Magic chef MCD1611ST microwave, the display lights up, the time and powerlevel can be set, the light works when the door is open but when i hit start everything shuts off. Any suggestions?

There are a lot of possible causes, but I'd look at the door switches first, and the wiring connectors to them. Make sure the contacts on all the switches are opening and closing.

Door latch

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Open Lever If the microwave door won't open the open lever might be broken. This part can be replaced separately.

Door Spring If the microwave door won't open the door spring may have broken. The door spring is located inside the door and keeps downward pressure on the door hook.

Door Latch If the microwave door won't open the door latch might be broken. The door latch is inside the microwave. The door hook, which is part of the door, engages with the latch to keep the door closed during operation. If the door latch or actuator breaks the door may not open.

Door Hook If the microwave door won't open the door hook might not be releasing properly. The door hook is installed inside the door and normally releases when the door is opened. The hook is made of plastic and will break over time. When this happens it will need to be replaced, it can't be repaired.

Button Spring If the microwave door won't open the button spring might be broken internally. The button spring can be replaced.
Button If the microwave door won't open the button might be broken internally. The button can be replaced.

Handle Actuator If the microwave door won't open the handle actuator might be broken. This is a plastic part which can become brittle over time. This part is connected between the door button and the door latch assembly.

Kenmore 401.80083700 won't turn off

It is one of two things, a defective door switch, or the keypad control board has failed.

Microwave doesn't start but the interior light goes on when you hit the start button

Hello

Remove the plug from the wall outlet and wait about 10 seconds before re-inserting it. The plug must be firmly inserted to transfer electricity to the appliance.

Open your home's circuit breaker box and reset the breaker if it has tripped and is set to the "Off" position. Simply slide the breaker over to the "On" position to fix a breaker that has tripped.

Plug a different appliance into the same outlet to make sure the outlet you are using is functional. Plug the microwave into a different outlet to see if this yields different results.

Press on the microwave door to ensure it is completely closed. The microwave will not function until the door is fully shut.

Press the "Start" pad on the display panel after setting the time. Failing to press this will result in the microwave not knowing that it should start.

Press the "Stop/Reset" pad on the panel if a program different from the program you want to run has already been entered into the system.

Press the "Clock" pad three times to turn off the demo mode. The demo mode will not allow the appliance to turn on and cook as it should.

I have a Sharp Microwave Carousel R-420B. I put a bowl of soup in , closed the door, pressed Minute Plus, and hit Stop with approx 20 seconds to go... pressed the door release but nothing happened... door...

Hello,

Usually, the door lever or hinges is the cause of this type of problem.

But in this case, I don't think the door lever or hinge is the cause of your problem.

I think the door is jammed and only needs some force before is can open or unjam.

Use your hands or a flat Philips screw driver to forcefully open the door. Don't apply too much force. Just apply a reason amount of force that could open the oven door.

Before you attempt to forcefully open the microwave door, leave it for about 45mins to 1hr, after that forcefully open the door.

If the above doesn't help to open the door, please let me know so that I can direct you further.

I wish you good luck.

Regards.

Mine does this occasionally, and it's because the door hinges have got a bit out of line, allowing the door to drop slightly, so the catch mechanism won't quite disengage.
Look along the bottom edge of the door and see if it has dropped lower than the front panel next to it. Try applying a bit of upward pressure on the bottom edge with your fingers, while pulling towards you at the same time, and with your other hand press the release button.

If that gets it open, remove last night's failed meal, open the door fully and carefully force it up a bit at a time, to bend the hinges back to level - keep pushing the door back so it nearly closes, and look at the bottom edge to check on progress. When the bottom of the door looks level with the panel , try closing it fully and see if the release button will open it again.

Good luck!
