My LG 37LC2D picture suddenly goes black and then if I bang on the corner of the set sometimes the picture will return. What is wrong with my TV?

My LG LCD TV seems to work fine and have a beautiful picture and sound, however, about 4-5 months ago it seemed like the picture would go black after a couple of steady hours of PS 3, cable TV, or a DVD movie. If you turn it off and wait a couple of hours it seems to be OK again. However, I've also found that if I bang on the corners or top of the "frame" around the LCD screen I can get the picture to return. However, after this problem starts happening it seems to go black again more quickly and frequently. Any idea about what could be causing this to happen or perhaps how I can fix this?

Could be the power supply card(s) is unseated..open it up if you dare and re-seat and/or maybe remove and clean the card edge connector contacts with an eraser

37LC2D LG PLASMA TV Solid red light is on no sound picture

The unit is stuck in standby. Have you tried turning it on manually on the set or changing the batteries in the remote. Does the light flash when you try to turn it on?

Plasma tv randomly goes black

By the highly technical manner in which you set forth the problem, I can see you are far more electronically savy than am I, BUT just a thought: Is there there any sort of timer setting in the TV menu which may be cutting it on and/or off, and which you have somehow failed to notice? Good luck. . .

LG 37LC2D-EC

It sounds like the TV is having sync issues with your Sky+HD box. HDCP is the "High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection" that is used between components. It requires a sync between the devices to ensure that you are not trying to "steal" the video content you are watching. This intermittent message and blacking of the screen is good evidence that this is your problem.

Even though the HDMI cable worked fine on another set, I'd try a new one anyway. Some TVs and components are more sensitive than others, and a weakened cable may not show a problem on one set, yet show it on another.

Barring the new cable not working, check LG's website for a possible firmware update for your TV, and also try using a different video source, like BluRay and see you have the same problems.

Beyond that, it may just be an issue with the TV itself starting to die.

Lg lcd tv 37lc2d no headphones socket - how do i connect headphones?

You can purchase a cable to connect to the Audio Out ports on the back of the TV. It will have 2 RCA connectors on one side that plugs into the TV and a 1/4" stereo jack on the other end that you will connect your headphones to. You could even pickup a pair of wireless headphones... they will have a volume control on them! I hope this helps.

Sony Trinitron KV-32S40 32" TV problem

This is a simple and common problem. The solder joints on the vertical output IC have cracked loose. I actually did a housecall on the exact same set with the exact same symptoms this morning! A good tech will resolder the pins of the vertical output IC and all other major solder joints on the main board and the set will play fine.
