SOURCE: PARA QUE ES EL TOUCH SENSOR AV CONTROLS

  1. Click the Start button, and then click on Computer .
  2. In the Computer window, under Hard Disk Drives , double-click on (C:) .
  3. Double-click the Windows folder.
  4. Double-click the DRIVERS folder.
  5. Double-click the .EXE folder.
  6. Double-click the Pointing Driver (Synaptics) folder.
  7. Double-click on the setup or setup.exe icon.
  8. Follow the Synaptics Pointing Driver Installation wizard instructions to install the driver. NOTE: When the installation setup is complete, a You must restart your computer to apply these changes window will appear. Choose the Restart Now button for proper installation .
Downloading and installing the Synaptics driver update available through the Drivers & Software link on this page will also resolve this issue.

You will need to find and install the drivers for those devices on the manufacturer's website:
esupport.sony.com.

The problem is, I can see that your computer came with Vista and Sony only carries drivers for Vista when it comes to those utilities. You may be able to search around the Sony support site and Google for some XP versions of the drivers but it's going to be time consuming.

I have a VGN-CS118E and it's media touch buttons don't work, only the AV button works
Hi,

The touch sensor buttons that control the AV Mode, volume, play, fast forward, etc. may stop working if the Synaptics Pointing Driver is uninstalled or if the file is corrupted. Follow this procedure to reinstall the Synaptics Pointing Driver.

Downloading and installing the Synaptics driver update available through the below link on this page will also resolve this issue.

After installing, reset the BIOS to its default values.
Click the Start button, and then click on Computer .

Touch sensor a/v controls sony vgn-cs325j not working
Hi hendridahlan,

The Touch Sensor AV Control Buttons above the Keyboard will not work if the Touchpad Driver in the Computer is not installed correctly. It is required to re-install the Touchpad Driver in the Computer to fix this issue.

You can download the Touchpad Driver from the below link.

ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/SPDOTH-16224700-64.EXE

Please restart the Computer after the installation for the settings to take the effect. This should fix the issue.

Im in Vietnam and i have a Sony vaio VGN-CS215j/w but the touch sensor of volum can not use. Pls help me repair it!
The plus (+) and minus (-) volume control buttons on the touch sensor bar above the keyboard may not work properly if the touchpad driver is not installed properly.

The other buttons on the touch sensor bar, such as the play, forward, or rewind buttons, may still work properly.
To resolve the issue, download and install the original Synaptics® Touchpad Driver (or an updated version of that driver, if available) from the Drivers & Software link on this page.
