Is there a small switch on the side of your memory card? if so, check its position. if it's locked, simply slide it to unlock it. Good luck.

SOURCE: how to unlock the memory card of my digimax S500/S600

Your card is protected.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

How to unlock a photo in camara

The protect function allows a user to protect a picture from accidental deletion. To unprotect a picture on your camera, scroll to the protected picture that you want to delete, then press the Menu button (the button to the right of the Play button.) Scroll down the menu and you should come to an option that allows you to Protect/Unprotect the picture. Since your picture is currently protected, deselect that option. You should then be able to delete the picture normally.

Alternatively, you could also format the memory card, however this deletes ALL photos and data you have on the memory card. If you are trying to completely clear the memory, this is the best way. After turning on your camera, simply press the Menu button, scroll to Setup, then scroll down to Format. Select Format, it will ask you if you want to format the memory card, or the camera's built-in memory. Format whichever one you want to clear, if you are using a memory card then your pictures are stored on the memory card. It will take a few seconds to format.

Hope this helps.

I cant take photos anymore and the LCD screen says CARD'S WRITE PROTECT SWITCH IS SET TO LOCK.How can i solve this problem?

You didn't specify the make and model of your camera, so I'm going to assume it uses SD and/or SDHC cards.
SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
If this doesn't do it, try another card.

Problm with meu 850SW

You may try some recovery software to rescue the files on your sd card, here are some for your options.

Photo Video Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Video Recovery for Mac

Be careful: Before your files are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.

Error message on screen " write protect" why is this?

Is your memory card write protected, SD cards have a small notch on the left hand side of the card which you can slide up or down to select/deselect protection.

Most cameras also have a photo protection facility in the menu to stop you over writing pictures you've decided to protect.

This can be switched on or off via the camera menu under card settings.

Memory card photos cannot be downloaded onto computer, tried two diferent computers, also kiosk at walmart, pics can be viewed on camera in multiviewing setting, but not individual setting. windows pop up...

Check the menu, many cameras allow you to enable photo protection, you may have some photos protected. You won't be able until that protection is removed.

Write protect

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup - Press Ok- right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the card can be used again.
