This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount (which are pretty simple problems to fix) or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There may also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type from us for $5 postpaid.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

Siemens HF26066GB plate is moving when door closed and not moving when open

Have a shop look at this---there usually is a recessed safety switch inside the jam that will prevent the unit from working with door open--sounds like the problem may be with it.

I hv a 24ltr Sharp Carasoul Microwave. Few days back, its plate stopped working, but its heating the food fine. Why has the plate stopped rotating? Will the food be evenly heated even though the plate...

> Why has the plate stopped rotating?

The turntable system typically consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

Here is a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You order Sharp parts Encompass here or call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

> Will the food be evenly heated even though the plate is not rotating?

No.

Light's on, plate rotates, no heat

When the microwave works properly but just doesn't heat, then the magnetron is bad and will need to be replaced. You can get the part and the diagram at partselect . com or repairclinic . com

The microwave timer runs but turnable plate doesn,t rotate and the heating elements doesn't comes on

you need a new microwave. There are no heating elements in mocrowaves just micro-waces. It only heats moisture it does not heat objects. It is to dangerous to replace the actual device that heats liquids.

Microwave seems to work but doesn't heat up

HI, when the Magnetron becomes unstable, the microwave will not heat anything. simply replace the Magnetron. This device creates the heating action and it is damaged and not functional at this time.

Oven cooks but turntable will not turn, so it cooks unevenly. How do I reset the keypad so it goes back to normal factory presets, in case I entered something that stops the turntable revolving. Is there...

The manufacturer has set the rotational plate in motion at the same time the microwave tube is energized. They work together as a team. At no time should the plate be idol, unless you remove it completely, and then only the center spindle will turn by itself. It is possible for the rotational spindle in the center of the oven to break, but that is unusual unless some sort of pressure (like stopping it when it was moving) was applied. Also, it has been reported that some individuals tend to put items with too much weight or too large for the oven to manage; thus damaging the rotator. As long as the oven still provides Microwaves to cook your food, it is still OK. Years ago, there were no rotating plates and using the energy was all it took to get the job done. For even cooking, just manually stop the oven at times and turn the food to avoid over heating in one spot.
