Watching the tv in color and all of the sudden the color is gone and i am watching it in black and white.
Are any of the other inputs such as DVD or VCR or PC inputs out puting color? If they are also only in Black and white they something has gone wrong inside on one of your main boards.
I'm wondering what input you are using.

Sounds like main board failure and or power board failure. You need to contact manufacturer and describe problem for tech support. Some of the parts in Samsung TVs have lifetime warranties. Change out of two board is about an hour job and service call is usually comped. Hope this helps. J

Make sure that the color control level is set to the default or 50% to start with. This should be in the Video menu.
The colour for the tuner and for the encoded base-band video uses a circuit area called the colour demodulator. It is possible that this cirucuit area has failed and needs servicing.

This can be on the matrix drive board, or the display assembly itself. It is possible to also have a defect in the address decoding area that will cause this.
The procedure is to swap out the suspect boards to determine where the fault is, leave the working boards in the set, and then follow up any necessary calibrations that are necessary.

there is a dvd/vcr that is attached and a cable box. dvd player was not on though. we also have an xbox but that was not on either. watching baseball on HD channel. i tried to put in a dvd to see if any color and that was in black and white so was the xbox game. the flatscreen tv is about 8yrs old and is an lg dlp hd tv. not sure what you mean by input i am using. i do not know a lot about tv's or how they are set up. my husband does all of that stuff.
