You will need to open up your network connections click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark ! ? you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled
If you are trying to connect through a modem/router the driver should have come with a disc provided by your ISP internet service provider or your motherboard disc

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question mark? right click install drivers

also make sure you Ethernet/internet is enabled in bios

restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on your screen a certain key to press to enter set up (BIOS) press and hold that key to enter bios using arrow keys scroll to intergrated peripherals look for SiS On Chip Pci Device press enter scroll to SiS 10/100m press enter make sure its enabled
imake sure its enabledPci device arrows key scroll to nstalled.

hope this helps

SOURCE: asus p5g41t-m csm motherboard is having LAN problems

Go to Control Panel and Device Manager. Check Network Adapter for normal. If all appears normal go to Network and Sharing Center to setup a connection. If still unable to make a network connection then download the LAN driver for Windows 7 from ASUS at this link and install it.
http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=22&m=P5G41T-M&os=&hashedid=FaRsjolgBLJKq49g Then reboot and try your connection again.

Unable to connect to internet despite connection confirmed

Improve the FixYa experience for everyone by voting.

I'm going to provide you with some generic approaches in an attempt to solve your problem.

First: Microsoft will perform a complete systems check for you in three clicks with their FixIt app. CLICK HERE and Microsoft will fix (repair) any Windows related problems that might be causing your problem.

Second: It is important to connect the modem to the router before you configure the modem in order to verify communication between them. If the cabling is incorrect, the rest of the process fails.

As a rule, external modems are built with a female data communications equipment (DCE) DB-25 port for connection to a controlling device such as a PC or a router

Connecting the modem using the network cable to the wrong port of the router (other than the WAN port) is easy to identify. You can easily troubleshoot the problem. In some cases, you may correctly setup the wireless router connection but you use the wrong cable type in connecting the modem to the router. Cross type UTP cable must be used in connecting the Ethernet port of the modem to the WAN port of the router. But this is not always true. Today, many types of wireless routers (and any LAN Switches) embedded their Ethernet ports (either WAN or LAN ports) with Auto-sensing type port (auto-MDIX LAN). It means that you can use either cross-type or straight-through-type network cable for the Ethernet port connections. The system will detect the cable type and automatically adjust the ports signal accordingly.

Need to connect Linsys to motorola modem for wi fi usage

  1. simply unplug the router and the modem from their power source
  2. plug the power cable into the modem
  3. wait for the lights to stop coming on, until you see solid power and internet connectivity LED and an intermittently blinking activity light.
  4. now plug the power to the router and allow it to boot all the way up as well.
  5. no your internet should be workin. (the ethernet cable should go from the LAN port on the modem to the Internet port on the rear of the router, and any desktops should be connected beginning with the LAN 1 port and advancing as required)

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

No connectivity

usually windows doesnt detect external modems except when they are connected through usb port which is plug and play. i guess after connecting the modem with lan port of pc try configuring the settings in windows and modem for internet connection to work. if the led of lan on modem is stable it means the modem is connected to pc well.

Reseting "Bridge mode" in RCA DCM 305R cabel modem

you can't set teh modem to bridge mode, however, you can set the router to bridge.
The linksys should have bridge mode configuration in the uer guide.

connected the 2 router together
configure the IP address of the liksys to be inthe same subnet as the moem, but out of the range of the DHCP of the modem. ie. DHCP address 192.168.0.2 through 192.169.0.100, the linksys should have the IP address as 192.168.0.200
disable the DHCP on the linksys
setup the wirless just the way you would if ti was the modem.
connect from the modem LAN port to the LAN port on thelinksys. leave the WAN port open.

Can this be used with a MAC?

Any router will work, TCP/IP is a network standard, definately double check the cables. Your DSL modem is usually 192.168.254.254. and the router is usually 192.168.1.1. Check your documentation for the default IP. Once you know it type it in to the broswer in your Mac. Before doing so connect with an ethernet cable, purchase a new one if necessary. Connect from the <--> labeled port on the mac, or ethernet port. These wires are not like phone lines, they have 8 wires instead of 4/6. The router usually has ports on the back labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, and WAN. the 1-4 ports are LAN and that is also labeled on there. Plug the mac into port 1 and any other computers in after you get internet. once the physical connection is recognized. Go to your browser in the mac and proceed. if you get a web based router configuration page your router is working, then make the WAN connection to the ethernet port on the back of the dsl mode. Be sure your cables are good. Also go to your control panel and make sure your internet is enabled in your network section.

I'm sure you have a modem, right? First you need to have a router. The manual on your router will teach you how to connect to LAN, you just follow the instruction.
