Can't clean microwave oven door

MY WHIRLPOOL MICROWAVE IS DIRTY BETWEEN THE SCREEN MESH COVER AND THE GLASS ON THE DOOR. CANNOT CLEAN IT. WHIRLPOOL SAYS I HAVE TO CONTACT A SERVICE REPAIRMAN FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY WILL NOT SELL ME A REPLACEMENT SCREEN MESH SO I CAN REMOVE THE OLD ONE TO CLEAN THE GLASS AND THEN REPLACE A NEW SCREEN. ANY SUGGESTIONS? I have the same problem with my model MH2175XSB0.

I have the same problem. Anyone figure this out yet? Can the mesh be removed and put back after cleaning?

You can change this part easily... if you want a fresh look, or using a degreaser that is available in home depot...

You can put a bowl of water in the oven, with a few drops of lemon juice in it, Microwave 2 mins, then see if the glass will wipe clean.

Can't clean the microwave glass because there is a mesh glued to it.

The mesh is required to prevent microwave radiation from escaping through the front of the unit. This should never be removed. You should be able to wipe clean the mesh with a damp soapy cloth. Make sure all internal areas are dry before using the machine.

We have a new 24"Dacor

The service manual is here and the parts list is here.
That mesh is the door screen which prevents microwave leakage.
It must be intact or replaced, or a fire hazard exists.
You can order Dacor parts by part number from the Pros here.

Cannot clean the inside door between glass and mesh - any ideas?

Unfortunately it is not possible to do this without dismantling the door. The mesh is very important for containing microwave energy in the oven cavity. If the door is dismanteled it is important not to damage the mesh and to have the oven tested for possible leakage after it has been re assembled.

How do I clean the inside glass on the door - GE Profile JVM1870

I have a Kenmore with similar issues.
Model 665.61639100
Anyway, good luck with this. Hope someone has an answer for you (and me).
Mine has a open slot on the top front of the door. Kinda like a double plate window execpt for the opening in front. Why is this there? I don't know. Weird design. But it leaves for the possibilty of liquid to splash in there leaving it hard to clean (like impossible).

I'm thinking I have to completely remove and disect the door.

Clean between mesh and glass on microwave door

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Can't clean the inside of the glass door--the screen blocks it

Have to replace the door. You probably removed the protective plastic cover inside the unit intended to keep material from passing through the screen into the area where the glass is located. That was my problem. I thought the plastic was shipping material. My Bad! No way to clean the glass from the inside because they "never imagined" someone would remove the plastic cover.

Dirty Door Glass inside the choke - how do I clean it?

Its very hard to take apart the doors They normally have a lot of screws. May have a plastic snap on cover that's covering them up. Some of them are even sealed and can not be taken apart.

Anytime you work on a door you must check it with a microwave leakage meter. The door has metal gaskets and a screen that blocks the microwaves upsetting them will cause it to leak.

This is not a do it yourself repair.

Inner 'glass' of door

The inner glass can and should be replaced. It protects the metal mesh screen from getting dirty, which can cause it to be damaged and allow microwave leakage. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

GE XL1800 Door

OK, I'm no handy man and I just figured out how to do this. Open the door and remove the black plastic cover surrounding the inside glass. I used a regular flat head screw driver to pop this out.

Now I removed the 3 screws holding the inner panel against the glass on the front door. After removing the screws, the inner panel is held in place by a series of plastic clips. Go around the perimeter and pop the plastic clips out so the inner panel including the mesh comes out of the door.

Now you have complete access to clean the inside of the glass door!

I found it easier to do this operation with the door completely off the microwave, but you should be able to do this with the door in place too.
