No Installation CD for Wireless-G Notebook Adapter

If you have the CD that comes with the adapter then you can try uninstall Linksys software and install only the drivers of the adapter.

Remove the Linksys Adapter and un-install the Linksys Software from Programs menu. To re-install the Drivers insert the Linksys Setup CD into your CD-ROM drive. When the Welcome screen appears click Exit. Connect your USB adapter to the computer. When the Found new Hardware Wizard window appears, click Install the software automatically (Recommended) then click Next. Click Finish when the installation is complete.Try to connect to the wireless network again. See if that works. You can also download the latest drivers from Linksys website on any other computer. Save it on a Flash drive and transfer the drivers on your computer.

unfortunately it doesn't look like linksys has made the drivers for windows7. This however is the link for xp drivers, which is under "Downloads"

Just download and copy the file to a usb flash drive, or burn it onto a cd and you're good to go ;)

If you download them to the desktop of the laptop and burn to cd or copy to flash then you may have something going. See if they will d/l to desktop from linksys site.

There's a possibility that the adapter is defective. However, you may still try the following:

1. Make sure to uninstall the software if you still have it installed. Remove it from the Programs list or under Add/Remove Programs.
2. Check Device Manager and make sure adapter is not under Network Adapters nor Other Devices. It might be called Network Controller if driver is not installed correctly.
3. Unplug card, shutdown computer and when PC is powered off, plug card back and restart computer.You may insert the CD on this process, but do not run/continue the CD setup wizard.
4. When computer is back on, you should get a Found New Hardware bubble message or wizard.

You can download the drivers (that are usually on the CD) from here. Please select your 'Version' from the list. You can look at the back of the device to find out which one you have, as there are many called WPC54G. Then after choosing the version click GO then click on 'Driver' to start the download.

This will let your wireless device function on your laptop computer.

Those install programs that Linksys uses are terrible. This happens all the time.

You probably can't use the linksys program to install the software on a Windows 2000 machine you should be able to install just the driver you need. I have never used wireless networking on a Win 2000 computer before. Win XP has sotware already built into the operating systems to deal with wireless networking.

Uninstall all Linksys wireless networking software. Restart you computer with the wirless network card install and let Windows search for the correct drivers on the CD.

Hai rob if ur device manager says error code 10then it seems the drivers are not installed properly for the adapter, try to update drivers, go to device manager, right clich adapter and click update driver and try to update driver, in some case ur pc may require win 2000 cd to.. check for the instructions while installing it , that would surely fix your problem..

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
