We just had the clutch replaced, and it worked for about 5 minutes then the blades quit
SOURCE: arien 34- Blades won't engage
This mower has an electric PTO on it. I had a Scag and the electric PTO clutch went out on it. Not the cheapest things to change but easy to do yourself with some basic tools. Also, before running out and getting a new one, check the wires to it and to the engage/disengage switch. You may have a bad connection.

SOURCE: blades won't turn to cut grass
On the chute where the grass comes out there is a black piece of metal under the edge of the deck held on by the 2 big thumb screws is probably bent. You will need to try to move the blade on the side near the chute by hand (Make sure the mower is not running when you do this) if the blade touches the black piece of metal it will kill the mower if you engage the blades and try moving forward. Anyway you need to take the black metal piece off and bend the corner out of the way (I used a crescent and clamped it to the hitch on my pickup). I am guessing i went over something like a street curb with the deck when it was to low and that bent it. Now when ever I move the mower from someones yard or drive it across the street I always raise the deck up all the way. I hope this helps
SOURCE: Airens Zoom 1944 ZTR Blades Slow Down In Bahaia Grass
You mention many PM issues but do not mention a blade sharpening. I don't get on my ZTR without a freshly honed blade installed. "That's" what cuts bahia grass...the blade. You can put all the horsepower you want behind the lade but if you're trying to cut grass with a 2X4 it rips more than cuts grass.

The common cause of this problem is that one of the safty switches has come dis-connected or has failed since most every newer mower has a electric clutch controlling the mower deck PTO there are safties bilt in under the seat and in other locations to make sure everything is ok before the blades engage, easiest way to test this is to run a jumper from the positive post of the battery to the input wire on the electric clutch assembly making sure all other wires ade dis-connected from the clutch and see if the blades engage if so then usint a continuity tester check all the wires and switches to this item to check for a faulty switch or broken wire.
