If the dryer door is open and then shut without restarting dryer, it continues to heat until the dial is turned to off. Is this normal? No other dryer I have had has done this.
No,it sounds like the heating element is touching metal and as long as the timer is sending power until it goes to off it will keep heating.change out the element
i'm not sure i understand what you meant,do you mean that when you open the door the dryer keeps running,if so you have a broken door switch if it does shut off when you open the door but the dryer keeps heating you have a shorted heating element
hi vickie,it sounds like the heating element is shorted out and you'll need to change it outwatch this video, unplug the dryer, open the door, remove the two phillips screws that hold the door in place and then remove the other two screws on the other side, lift up the door and remove it and then pull the front panel off.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vmt6sNKkZ...
watch this video to take front panel offhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzNMveD45...
hope this helps you out.

Sounds like the moisture sensor has gone away. Not sure where it is located on this model, though.

As you are looking at the igniter you may notice a little rectangular sensor to the left.
This tells the dryer that the igniter is glowing and it is OK to open the natural gas valve. If this sensor isn't working, the gas valve remains closed
Once the burner is lit, there is another sensor above the flame that is round. (flame sensor) This tells the dryer that the flame is lit.
If this sensor isn't working the dryer turns off the burner after a brief period.
This sensor can be cleaned or replaced.

sounds like your blower is either clog, or the exhaust duct is clog with lint. also pull the front face off and clean out the location where the filter sits, they become clog over time and no ones cleans there. Your over heat protection circiut shuts down the dryer when it cannot exhaust enough air.

Hi,
There are several things that can cause a gas dryer to have no heat. I can walk you through how to test the components if you have a bit of mechanical ability and an ohmmeter to test with. I will list the suspects here but to narrow it down we need to do a bit more troubleshooting.
Thermal fuse or thermal cut off - these two components can trip if too much heat builds up due to lack of air flow, usually a restricted vent.
Gas valve coils - these can fail as a result of age
Gas valve ignitor - This can fail as a result of age or vibration
Control/timer contacts - Fails due to age or heavy use
Let me know how deep you want me to go as far as troubleshooting with you on these and I would be happy to assist.

The dryer shuts off. Drum stops moving, but it continues to heat until the dial is manually turned to off.
