Hi. To be truthful I am rather lost. It has an Intel G45/G43 Express chipset if that is of any help, but I do not know how to find out about the video card you refer to.

Thank you. I shall try and let you know the outcome.

Does the video card ,in the second machine, support 1400x900 resolution? I am running dual 7600 video cards and that optional resolution is not available to me. Will it change to any other resolution setting?

I have installed viewsonic va1716w monitor using windows xp. I am unable to set its resolution to 1440X900. from display properties it going from 1024X768 to 1280X1024

It is possible that the video driver cannot support 1440X900 resolution.
Try installing the latest video driver and then try the higher screen resolution.

I have SAMSUNG LCD 943 MWX monitor which is 19"

This is not a monitor problem. This is a mother board problem, some mother boards are supporting this resolution. For this problem, you have to replace the mother board or put the graphics card on the same mother board.your problem will solve.

I am unable to get the screen resolution to 1600x900. It goes to an auto setting of 1440x900 and stops there. What to do? Is there a special driver which could be integrated to VIA?

First make sure you have , 1 : your Graphics card driver installed , 2 : you have your screen Driver installed, aswell as i know some smaller screens cannot go higher then 1440x900..
Hope this helped
Thanks

Windows XP Not displaying fully on 1440x900 resolution.

If you have one of those older CRT monitors you should be able to resize the image. Some LCDs have screen shifting tools too. Try doing a full restart, too. (shutting your computer down, waiting 1 or 2 minutes, then starting it up again.)

Monitor resolution

Hello,

What do you mean that you were unable to get the native resolution of 1440x900? Are you saying that the resolution varries?

Since you mentioned that the mother board supports 1440x900, try to set the monitor resolution to that same resolution and then restart the computer.

If you will get the same problem, you have to make sure that the video card supports 1440x900 resolution.

Proview wb926wbi monitor

Try changing the resolution to 1440x900. This is the ideal resolution for this monitor.
To change the resolution:
Right click on an empty space on your Windows desktop.
Choose Properties (XP) or Personalize (Vista)
Choose the Settings tab (XP) or Display Settings (Vista).
Slide the resolution slider to 1440x900, then click apply.
If asked whether you want to keep this setting, choose yes/ok.

Note: Not all video cards support this resolution. Updating your video card's (not monitor's) driver may add it.
