SOURCE: Presser foot down, but still get error "E1"

I had the same problem. It started after I took the cover off to fix something else. After I screwed the cover back on, I kept getting the E1 message even when the foot was already down. I took the cover off again, and I found that there is a metal tab at the top left of the front cover, that is pushed by a metal tab in the back that moves when you put the presser foot up or down. You can see this metal tab moving in the back if you put the foot up and down with the cover off. Just putting the foot down(I think) before putting the cover back on fixed it so one metal tab is on the correct side of the other metal tab.

SOURCE: "Lower presser foot" error on SE 270D

OK; My SE-270D is about 5 years old and it just recently started giving me the "lower presser foot lever" I have already spent $30 going on line to fixit websites only to be told to take the unit to a service center. I went through the normal routine of trying to reset the computer of which did not work. I can't afford to spend $75 just to let someone look at my unit and then pay even more to have it fixed. I could buy the same machine or equivalent (brand new) for about $200. I am sort of mechanically inclined so I decided what the heck, I will just open up this machine and try to figure it out myself. I mean what do I have to loose. I opened up the unit and discovered there is a tiny "pressure switch" which is activated when the lever is pushed up or down. When the lever is up the switch is "off" when the lever is lowered it releases the spring loaded whitch to the "on" position. The tiny switch is right below the thread tension dial. I discovered that the switch could be activated manually by pulling it over with my finger. I had to make a hole in the casing so I could get to the switch after I put it back together. WALA! it works. When I lower the presser foot lever I then pull the broken switch into the proper position and it works like a sewing machine. I gambled on this solution because I have a tiny bit of mechanical knowledge. So if you are lacking in that area, please don't try it.

SOURCE: The presser foot came off Brothers sewing machine

position the foot under the shaft making sure the horizontal pin on the foot is in line with the horizontal groove on the end of presser foot fitting on the shaft. Lower the pressor foot arm and it should snap right on. If not, press it up manually. the directions should be in your manual. If you don't have your manual, you can get it online at www.brother-usa.com

SOURCE: presser foot lifter is stuck can i fix it

If you can't lift the presser foot up at all undo the presser bar screw on top of the presser bar, if you have a dial turn it to 0, you should now be able to move the lever, if it is still tight put some WD40 on the presser bar and leave it for a couple of hours.

Is there a larger foot rest or a way to lower and extend foot rest

Foot rest? Are you referring to the foot control unit or a presser foot? If it is presser foot, most likely you do not have the correct presser foot for your machine. Search the internet for the "make model presser foot" (substitute make & model with your machine make & model). There are basically 3 presser foot styles--low, high & slant. They are not interchangeable.

If you are talking about the foot control, sometimes you can find other foot control units for your machine, possibly even generic units.

Presser foot does not lower.

I had the same problem ! I had to take it to be repaired, they had to take it apart & grease the whole thing, I hadn't used the machine in a couple of years & the original "grease" became too hard for the foot to come down.

I have a 9960 singer machine and am trying to use the buttonhole presser foot for the first time and I can not get it to sew T

the buttonhole foot snaps on to the presser bar, there's a little lever at the back of the presser bar that releases the foot, then put the buttonhole foot down on the needle plate & use the presser foot lifter (number 11) to lower the presser bar down onto the buttonhole foot & you'll hear a click sound when it snaps on & make sure to use the buttonhole lever(number 31) because the machine won't sew a buttonhole unless that lever is pulled down.

I can't get the foot to lower and raise.

it sounds like it's out of time--here's how to fix it
to adjust the pressure on the presser bar and in turn the foot, locate the thumb
screw at the top of the machine

by rotating the thumb screw clockwise, you will increase the pressure, a counter
clockwise turn will decrease the pressure

the correct height of the pressure foot from the needle plate is 7mm.
to adjust this clearence loosen the screw & adjust the pressure bar through
the guide
secure the screw firmly when the correct adjustment is obtained

the distance between the presser bar lifting arm & the presser bar guide should
be 0.5mm ..( be sure the needle bar does not rotate left or right during the
adjustment process. the needle must be center of the presser foot & needle
plate hole,, if this is not centered re-adjust to the center of both needle foot
& needle plate hole.

The presser foot lifter on my machine is not engaging this allows the needle assembly to spin - is there a way to fix this?

Your question is not clear. The pressure foot lifter only lifts the pressure foot. It doesn't make the needle spin.

I have my mom's old sewing machine UHT J 1917. I don't have the manual for it and I believe that I have a tension problem. I have loose lops on the underside of my fabric when I'm trying to do a straight...

It more than likely is not threaded right. Insert a new needle, flat side facing away from you, totally rethread with the presser foot up. Now, presser foot still up, pull the to thread, it should feed smoothly, now lower the presser foot, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs. Good luck

HOW DO I ATTACH PRESSER FOOT G TO MY MACHINE??

there are 2 type of presser bar foot clamps
one allows you to snap on the foot--raise & then lower the presser foot holder until the cut out is directly above the pin on the foot,,as you lower the presser foot holder the presser foot will automatically engage when put down on the pin area

the second is a shank & foot combined & there is a screw on the presser bar,,unscrew it some & put the shank up around the screw & retighten the screw
