Hi,A G4 12" ibook with screen that comes on but the lower quarter of the screen just stays white (very faint color vertical striping) with a narrow horizontal dark band. The top 3/4 is normal. Then after 2 mins the whole screen fades to dark gray. I close the lid so it sleeps, open again and it will run for another 1 or 2 mins before turning dark gray again. Should we replace the inverter board, screen, both or something else? Thanks,
TC

I hate to give you bad news but I believe this will be a panel issue and it's not going to be fixable. You can try a different tcon board but I don't think it will help
My first thought would be to check your TV on multiple inputs to verify that it IS the TV and NOT isolated to your input cable(s). If you can get a solid blue color to come up on the screen by changing inputs then it would really narrow down the issue(s).
Hope this helps.
Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!
Hi,If you are experimenting vertical lines ,color distortion, pixilation,or white dots on the screen you might be having an issue with the Dmd chip. This is how the DMD chip works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the dmd chip is composed of around 2 million pixels that create the image on the screen. You will need to replace in order to fix your problem.Have a blessed one!
the audio is perfect, but the screen vertically squeezes to about a quarter of an inch and stays horizontally regular.
it is due to vertical section of your tv has failed.
it is a common problem
if you are not a tech person call tech to fix it.
solution
1 check vertical section supply.
2 check components in vrtical output stage.
3 check vertical output ic.
4 loose contact in vertical section
it is not a major ptoblem.
good luck.
