According to the specs, this printer connects to the computer using an USB cable.
The only reason it could be asking for an IP address if it is connected to a network card or attached to a print server.
OR the wrong print driver is installed.

SOURCE: Reset Lexmark E250dn IP address

Yes you can, but you need to lock that ip in your router to so its always goes to your printer.

Just make sure that your router dosent use that ip for it self, the usal ip for a router is 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.0.1, but you never know. Check it to be shure!

A impressora nao esta ativada, embora esteja conectada ao roteador, como liberar a impressao

When the printer is connected to the network the first time, the router will assign an IP address to it. To get the IP address that the printer was assigned, print a configuration page from the printer. It will show you the IP address on that page somewhere.
Using an Internet browser, type the IP address of the printer into the address line of the browser and press enter. It should bring up a printer configuration window.
Now, since each printer is different, I can't give you the exact steps, HOWEVER, here's what you are looking for:
Find a Network - TCP/IP configuration menu. Somewhere in that menu, it will give you the choice of setting a manual or static IP address versus a DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) assigned address.
You want to manually set the IP address to the address given on the configuration page. This would normally be 192.168.1.10x where x is any number between 0 and 9. The subnet mask will normally be 255.255.255.0 and the gateway will normally be the IP of the router, usually 192.168.1.1
Once the IP address is assigned permanently to the printer as a static address, you are now ready to add the printer to each computer on your network.
Add the Printer to Your Networked Computers
In Windows XP, follow these steps to add the wireless printer to your computer:
  1. Go to Start, Printers and Faxes.
  2. Double click on Add Printer
  3. Click Next.
  4. On the Local or Network Printer dialog box, choose Local Printer and UNCHECK the box that says "Automatically detect" the printer. Click Next.
  5. On the Select a Printer Port window, choose to Create a New Port, and then under Type of Port, choose Standard TCP/IP port. Click Next.
  6. Make sure the printer is On and Ready, and connected to the network. Click Next.
  7. Type in the static IP address of the printer that you set in the steps above. Click Next.
  8. It will then try to connect to that IP address. It you typed it wrong, or the printer is off, it will come back and give you an error.
  9. If all is well, it should then ask you for the printer driver. If it is an older printer, it may already be listed in Windows. Alternatively, you can insert the CD for the printer, and find the Windows XP English version of the driver. It will be an .inf file most likely.
  10. Double click on the appropriate INF file and then choose the driver you want to install. (the PCL 6 version is usually the one you should choose).
  11. Click Next. It will install the driver and ask you to name the printer.
  12. When it is done, click Finish. (You can choose to print a test page if you want).

I find the ip of my Copier Canon imageRUNNER 550, I love to network so that I print, I can do, thanks

Windows XP (also Windows 2000/NT4):

  1. From the Start menu, select Printers and Faxes. (Windows 2000/NT4: Start menu, Settings, Printers)
  2. On the left side of the window, in the Printer Tasks section, click on the link for Add a Printer.
  3. In the Add Printer Wizard window, click Next.
  4. In the Local or Network Printer window, select Local Printer. Uncheck 'Automatically detect and install my plug-and-play printer'. Click Next.
  5. In the Select a Printer Port window, choose Create a new port. From the Type of port list, select Standard TCP/IP Port. Click Next.
  6. In the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard window, click Next.
  7. In the Printer Name or IP Address field, enter the DNS hostname of your printer (ex: myprinter.chem.cmu.edu). The Port Name field can usually be anything you like (without spaces), like 'lp0' or 'print' or the DNS hostname. Click Next.
  8. Click Finish. It may take a few moments before the next window appears.
  9. From the Manufacturers list, select the printer model of the printer you wish to use. From the Printers list, select the model number of your printer, followed by the designation (ex: HP LaserJet 4000 Series PS). Click Next.
  10. If you are asked whether you want to keep an existing driver, select Keep existing driver, then click Next.
  11. In the Printer name field, put the DNS hostname of the printer. This is actually the display name of the printer for just this machine and can be anything, but it's a good idea to set it to the DNS name as a visual reminder that it's an IP printer that can be used from anywhere. Most IP printers also have built in web servers that display status information about the printer, so recording the DNS name here can be a reference to use when typing in the printer's web address, like http://myprinter.chem.cmu.edu.
  12. If this is the printer you will be using most often, select Yes to use this printer as your default printer; otherwise, select No. Click Next.
  13. If you are asked whether you wish to share the printer, select Do not share this printer. Click Next.
  14. When you are asked whether to print a test page, select No. Click Next.
  15. Click Finish.
  16. If you receive a message that a Microsoft digital signature was not found, click Yes to continue the installation.
  17. To check if the printer is working correctly, go to Start > Printers and Faxes. Right-click on the newly created printer and pick Properties, and choose Print Test Page.

Mac OS X:

  1. Find the printer's full DNS name using the instructions at the top of this page.
  2. Go to Applications, Utilties, Printer Setup Utility.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select IP Printing. Some inkjet printers may install their own section, like 'hp IP Printing' or 'Epson IP Printing'. If so, select that instead.
  5. Leave the printer type at its default value of LPD/LPR
  6. In the Printer Address field, put in the full DNS name off the printer, such as myprinter.chem.cmu.edu.
  7. Leave the queue name blank.
  8. Select the appropriate printer model. (If your printer model isn't listed, download and install the OS X driver for your printer from the printer vendor's website and go back to step 2)
  9. The display name of the printer can be anything, but it's a good idea to set it to the DNS name as a visual reminder that it's an IP printer that can be used from anywhere. Most IP printers also have built in web servers that display status information about the printer, so recording the DNS name here can be a reference to use when typing in the

I have a Belkin router N300 do I just plug in the printer Lexmark cable to the router and that is it.

To make my Lexmark e250DN work on the network using my new Belkin N300, I had to do this:
1. Install router as per Belkin instructions. 2. Power off printer, then connect Lexmark printer to the router. Power on printer. 3. In a Browser, go to 192.168.2.1 which is the Router's IP address. 4. Click on DHCP Client List. You will see a list of the "computers" connected to the router, which includes the printer. Your printer will have a very long alphanumeric Host Name (mine began with E00000) Note the IP address (something like 192.168.2.4) That is the printer's IP address. 5. In Control Panel, Printers & Faxes, a) if the printer was previously installed with a different router, edit its settings to use the new IP address; b) if the printer was not previously installed, ADD a Network Printer at address http://192.168.2.x (x being whatever your DHCP client list showed).
That should do it.

Where is my printer IP address

The printer IP address is something you have to add. You can go to Xerox.com and go to support, type in your model number and then to support again.
Then enter IP in the search box and it will tell you step by step how to set it up.
You can set the printer up with a USB cable and it will skip that all together.
The reason it is asking you for the IP address is so it can find the printer and automatically add it.
If you need help. e-mail me at [email protected] I will try and help you that way.
