I had the same problem after only a few months. There is a float at the side of the water resivour, this float also has a magnet attached to it and for some reason becomes lodged at the bottom of the tank, telling the machine that there is not enough water in the tank, even when there is. Use a magnet on the outside of the resviour, connect it to the one on the inside and lift very slowly upwards...Hey presto the light stops flashing and the water boils

I had the same problem - my husband discovered that there is a magnet inside the water tank which floats when the tank is filled. The magnet turns on a switch in the machine when the reservoiur is full. However, the magnet in ours was stuck at the bottom even when the tank was full, so the machine thought the tank was always empty! This probably happened due to a built up of limescale. I bought a new tank from Amazon and the problem was thus solved without having to buy a new machine. I shall try and descale the tank and then I'll have a spare.

I also had the same problem. I didn't take my machine apart, though. I just filled the reservoir, and noticed that the float wasn't moving. So I emptied it, tapped it on the side of the sink, and now it's floating again. Try that first-save money and frustration! (And keep a french press on hand for emergencies!)

I had the same problem. When i tilted the water container back it would heat the water but once fully inserted it was blinking like there was no water present. I disassembled the back of the coffee maker and checked out the water level sensor. That was working ok. Then I tried using the magnet in the water container to check the sensor which was also ok. Then i noticed that once water was inserted into the water canister the float (level float)did not move, So there is the problem. I then just bridged the water level sensor and the machine is working again. the only setback is that I now have to make sure there is enough water in the tank as otherwise the pump will run dry and burn out.

Our Senseo Coffeemaker switches off half way through running a coffee.

You have to clean the unit. It must have calcium deposits, preventing it to heat the water properly. The unit overheats and the thermostat shuts it down.

I turn the machine on and the light blinks and it will not heat the water. I have tried using a magnet to move the float, but the float is at the top.

Do you see a fast or a slow blink? If you see:
  • A fast blink: the machine has encountered some condition that prohibits it from engaging the heater element. This could be a low water level detection (the float being in the high position doesn't mean the Reed relais is also triggered!), some other malfunction or a power problem. To rule out the latter, plug the Senseo into another wall socket, preferrably another electric group.
  • A slow blink: your Senseo is feeling happy and is unaware of a problem. This may point to a defective heater element. If you do hear the rumbling noise of water being heated, it's most likely the temperature sensor - both are cases for the repair shop.

Hello, Hope you guys can help me on this one: My philips senseo coffee machine blinks constantly when I turn it on as if there is no water. However, there is enough water in the tank. If I hold the tank...

Either the little magnet in the reservoir is stuck (does it float when you slowly fill up the reservoir?), or the corresponding Reed relais doesn't properly respond to the magnets presence. The latter most likely requires technical attention.

HOW DO I DESCALE MY SENSEO?

run vinegar thru it... go buy a gallon of it... and run a couple cups thru it...
then use filtered water or distilled water to flush that vinegar out...

then go buy yourself a Brita Pitcher... and use that... cheaper then using distilled water...

Senseo 7814 does not heat water and red light keeps flashing

is the red light flashing as though not enough water, if so use a magnet to connect to the valve inside the machine, the valve can be found along the water level where the float is. what is happening is that the float is stuck. by connecting the magnet to the valve and very slowly moving the magnet along the water level, upwards the valve will follow and the water will begin to heat as the light changes to a slow flash, if it doesn't work try again as you have not connected to the magnet

My philips senseo new generation won't open I suspect a vacuum-problem but don't know how to solve this can you advise me?

Eureka! I have solved this problem.
Disconnect your Senseo from the power. Take it to the sink. Hold it upside down and put hot water in the coffee outled. In less than 30 seconds the senseo will open.

The problem with Senseo is that - especially with coffee holders for 2 cups and chocolate - after making the coffee, the pod holder and the pod cool down. This creates an underpressure, that prevents you opening the Senseo. Hot water will increase the pressure and then you can open the senseo very soon.

This solution was found in despair after struggling with all the complex tool involving (knives, pumps, etc.)

Let me know if it works for you
