The port is female with a center pin, the male portion is on the charger.
If you damaged this pin and it is loose you will need to replace the plug on the charger. Since these are very similar to some laptop charging ports, having a broken laptop around with same size charging port would be a bonus, or a friend with one too, but they are relatively cheap, I fix broken ones on laptops several times a year and can find a pair of them shipped for under $10 typically.
Sometimes you need to solder them on, sometimes they connect with a dongle, should be easy enough to take apart and peek inside.
Other wise, if that is beyond your expertise, does the charger have a cigarette lighter, you could likely charge it through that port, or with a trickle charger directly on the battery cables on the unit if need be.

Are you sure the a pin is broken? Try borrowing a PSP charger first and try it before going to a repairman just to be sure if the charger is not the one that is malfunctioning.

Hi,pls check the phone changing port,inside the port should have a pin,the pin broken will effect changing. Make sure changing port ok,chager ok. Mayb changing Ic has been spoil.u need sent for repair. Pls rate me if my solution useful,thx..

YES, YOU CAN CHANGE THE CHARGING PORT ON THE PSP. YOU CAN ALSO CHARGE IT WITH YOUR USB AND YOUR COMPUTER.

Solution 1: Try to borrow from your friend psp charger and charge it if charging. this maybe the problem.

Solution 2. Try to borrow replace the battery if it will charge. This may be the problem.

Otherwise the problem would be the psp unit itself that you are using while at battery charging. Hence your are playing and moving, you have tendency to damage the charging port of your psp. This maybe the problem and need replacement of parts.

There are two possible causes for this, one your charger is broken, in which case you will need to buy a new one. Hopefully thats the problem, because the only other possibility is that the Charging port is broken, in which case you will have to send it to Sony to repair. However, there is a work around to the second problem. My psp has the ability to charge via its USB port, if you have a compatible USB cable, connect your psp to your computer and see if that will work.

Check the charging port where the charger plugs into the handset, there should be a small pin inside, if you cant see this then its probably broken off and you will need to replace the charging connector

Inside the PSP the switch has a small pin that engages with the switch. Likely this pin has broken, or has become disengaged with the switch inside the PSP. Take the back off the units and have a look... be careful and make sure you note where each screw goes.. and reassemble the same way- its not hard..

You will need to go to www.us.playstation.com and find a repair center. I believe that part is Sony specific.
