My dell latitude d800 laptop will not boot properly. It gets to the dell pre-boot screen and then goes blank with a flickering curser in the upper left corner of display. Will not boot to windows XP screen. How can i solve. All diagnostics pass...yet it still will not reboot. Tried fn power button to no avail. thanx
Did the diagnostics pass the RAM and the hard drive.
You should check the BIOS settings to see if the hard disk is detected, if possible reset the BIOS back to the default settings and see if the computer boots up.
If not :-
Then it appears that the operating system is either corrupted or system files were deleted or infected with viruses.
Your only option is to do a operating system repair or a complete new install of Windows.
I recommend you do a new install.

my d800 wont even start up with the windows disc...Geekman is wrong bc I have tried all that way too many times...can't do a repair...a little lock light with a 9 on it comes on when I try to boot and my POS will boot ONLY IN SAFE MODE
what does the top (looks like a trash can) indicator light represent on the upper left side (above and to the left of the keyboard)
my dell insprion 15r window 8 when i boot it on it goes to the the password part i know that pass word but it says boot device not found
Dell logo appears and disapears and only a single curser appears in the upper left corner
