Carrier SBP Humidifier is not working

I purchased a Carrier furnace, humidifier, electronic air cleaner & Infinity thermostat from Applewood Air in Oct. 2007. I paid over $4,000 and I have left 3 messages, sent a fax and emailed and no one from Applewood Air Conditioning has responded.

The furnace humidifier is not working, the humidity on thermostat is set at 52, I have cleaned the filter, checked that the water is on and checked all tubes and wiring. There is no water running out from humidifier. I used to hear the spraying of water in the humidifier, which I no longer hear. The house is dry. There is no dial knob anywhere on the humidifier itself.

Please help and thank you

I would suggest turning up the humidistat (usually located on the the return air duct to a higher setting and listening for a "click" noise on the supply valve. If you do hear a click but dont see / hear any water than the culprit is likely the valve itself.

If i hook my Aprilaire 400 Manual (not auto/digital) humidifier up straight to a 24v wall outlet instead of to the furnace, will it still work correctly? Or does it need to be powered by the furnace to...

Your humidifier is a bypass type. The only voltage needed is 24vac to open the water valve. Air only flows through the humidifier when the furnace blower is running, and the wet pad will add very little humidity if the furnace is not running and heating the air before flowing through the wet pad in the humidifier.
It is best the water valve is only energized when the furnace is running. Some furnaces have a connector on their control boards labeled HUM for this purpose. Test it's voltage when the furnace is running because some will output 110vac instead of 24vac you need.

Humidifier Running Continuously with Fan Blower

As long as the humidifier start/stop is regulated by air flow there is no way to cycle it on/off with another device. If, however you disconnect that capability and, instead wire it to the heat on cool on switch it will only turn on when the stat calls for heating or cooling. You may need to install an intermediate relay off the stat wires to regulate the different(assuming that they are) voltage of the humidifier start/stop.What a fun project, thanks!

My carrier humidifier has a hose which drains into the laundry sink and a lot of water is coming out. Should this happen in winter? I thought water should only come out in the summer?

The humidifier should run in winter, however if the windows are fogged up it means the humidistat is set too high. Try lowerimg the setting on tue humidistat.

I have a Carrier humidifier model #HUMCCLBP2217-A. It appears to be working, but every time it shuts off it emits a very loud "thump". The noise is loud enough to wake me up at night. I have...

Do you feel like looking at the humidifier yourself?
You can open the door on the unit, while the furnace is running--
The humidifier is usually installed in the return air duct, so there will be a sucking of air into the open door, when you open it.

There is usually a large wheel, with a wet pad wrapped around the circumference.
This wheel rotates slowly, and picks up water from the sump-- does everything look and sound quiet as it runs? -- The float valve has to open and close, to c ontrol the leve of water in the sump-- (The pool of water the wheel runs the mat thru--
Possibly the valve shutting off, could make a plumbing BANG-- you could duplicate that, by lifting the float mechanism and stopping the water-- does that make the noise?

If you can reach and operate the Humidistat control from near the humidifier, do so a few time-- or Have someone cycle the humidistat a few times, and you listen for that sound--
Is it in the humidifier itself, or the duct work nearby?

It might be that the humidistat wheel scrapes against the side of the sheet metal duct work? -- Sounds travel a long ways in metal duct work!

Install HE220 HoneyWell , humidity not increasing in the house.

You can try installing the water line to your hot water if it is installed on cold line for more humidification. You should make sure your humidistat is up line 6" @least from humidifier for proper humidification measurement.
