I just hooked an hmdi cable to me tv from my cable box. When I swith to the hdmi input it says no signal when I can clearly see the picture coming from my cable box and then after a few seconds it just turns to black. Anyone have any idea what is happening?

    I have the olevia 27in and bought the Toshiba HD-A3 DVD player a month ago. I hooked the HD DVD player to the tv via the HDMI input and it worked great for about two weeks. I took the DVD player to my parent's house and hooked it up to their Sony 50in to show them the picture quality and when I hooked it back up to my Olevia TV, the HDMI source would not produce a signal. I have a monster hdmi cable and it works fine, but now whenever I switch the source to the HDMI input and turn the DVD player on, it just says "no signal." I got it to work once in the past few weeks, but I have no idea how it came on. I was just unplugging it and turning it on and off and playing with the TV setup options and it came on, but then when I tried to turn it on again, it said "no signal." What should I do? I feel like my TV is broken....

My best guess would be that the resolution settings on your reciever are set too high(It's putting out an HD signal the TV can't display) Plug in through Composite or component the the box and resolve this through you Cable box's menu, then reconnect the HDMI cable.

Hmdi to rac

No. HDMI cables use the RGB and sync on separate connection pins on the cable. RCA cables use the whole composite picture TV signal on the cable.

My cable box is hooked up but no signal can u tell me whats wrong

If you hookup your TV directly to the coaxial cable, bypassing the cable-box, do you get a few channels? If so, then the coaxial cable is carrying a signal, which is good.

How are you hooking the output from the cable-box to the input(s) on the TV? Coaxial output port on box to coaxial input port on TV?
Red/blue/green "component" outputs on box to matching inputs on TV? Red/White audio outputs on box to red/white inputs on TV? HMDI output from box to HDMI input on TV?

You have to "tell" the TV which of the inputs:
* coaxial (with TV set to Channel 3 or 4)
* component
* HDMI
to "listen" to.

How do i hook a bluray player up only with hmdi cable to a older tv without hmdi hookup?

Hi,
Just buy an HDMI to AV converter box. It will converter the HDMI to Composite video. If your TV have Component video input then its better to buy HDMI to Component video cable. component video quality is better than composite. Its have resolution up to 1080i.

What channel does the tv need to be on for the hmdi cable to get a signal?

It's not a channel. You should select the input to TV to HDMI. Refer its user manual, please.

How do you hook hmdi cable up to Mitsubishi hdtv wd62528?

Must select correct input, on your model the input used is not "labeled" HDMI, look in your user manual.

Toshiba 40XV645U - No picture on HDMI 1 when TV is turned on

I assume that you have set the input source selction as in Page 32 and HDMI 1 is solid and and not grayed out. If so check the Preferences menu and see if there is an option for power on set up.
Also look at page 51 about HDMI feature settings. I assume you turn the cable box on first before turning the TV on.

No signal

Try changing the order you turn on your TV and cable box, don't switch both together. The TV will likely skip the HDMI inputs if there is no signal there. Alternative you can change the TV's source after the cable box is on and that should allow it to not skip the HDMIs. You don't have HDMI to DVI adapter(s) in the line, do you? -Ken

Says no signal when switched to hdmi when there is one.

Have the same problem with a 532H - but here is what I did to resolve the issue:
1) Click your Menu button on the TV remote.
2) Go to Screen (click the right button)
3) Go to Main Picture Source (click the right button)
4) Select HDMI (click the Menu button when done)
