Technically, it can befixed but if it happens once, it will likely happen again. You should buy a new one as they aregenerally pretty cheap. In the meantime, fill a large bowl with water and place the fish there. This will allow them to get some fresh oxygen. While the fish are in the temporary container, get rid of all of the water in the tank. Then, refill again with new, oxygenated water. I wouldn't leave them in this environment formore than a day before you purchase a new air pump.

Using a pH meter to care for your fish

pH values are the acidity of a body of water. Neutral water has a value of 7.0 meaning that it has equal amounts of hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions. When more hydrogen ions are added the water then the number goes down and the water becomes more acidic, or if the amount of hydroxide ions goes up then the water becomes more alkaline.

pH levels in your fish tank can prove to be fatal if they aren't monitored properly. While there is no secret formula for the perfect pH level for all fish it is best to keep all the fish from the same bodies of water together. Salt water fish shouldn't be put in a tank with freshwater fish because they need different pH levels.

Throughout the day the pH level of your fish tank will change although these slight changes shouldn't be too harmful on your fish sudden changes will prove to be fatal. When you are moving fish from one tank to another you want to make sure that the two waters have the same pH levels. When you want to buy a new fish check the pH level of your fish tank and then the pH level of the water at the pet shop to make sure that the levels are not too different.

You should be checking the pH levels of your fish tank at least once a month, but more often is always better. When you take the pH level you should write it down in a log book. You should try to take the pH level at the same time every time you take a reading because at different times of the day the levels would be different. Try to keep yourself from going crazy, if the pH level is a few decimals off of perfect your fish will be okay. If the level is fairly regular you shouldn't have to do anything unless your fish show signs of distress.

My air pump still has air coming out just not as powerful, this is the second one in less than year that has down this. it is just a 2 gallon tank.

You can get overhaul kits for these pumps and DIY. cheaper than buying a new pump. Your pump should last longer than that. your pump is really big for a 2 gal tank. how are you adjusting the air flow? If you throttle down the air flow a lot on a diaphragm pump, it can shorten the life of the diaphragm

What is an aquarium air pump?

Aquarium air pumps are devices that add air pressure to the tank, which oxygenates the aquarium so the fish can breathe better and survive.

Why should I use an air pump in my aquarium?

Aquarium air pump allows for better humidification in conjunction with perlite, and lava rocks. It also provides automatic aeration pushing the C02 up and out the FAE holes in the PMP lid, so there is no need for misting or fanning.

How come there is no air going into my fish tank via the pump?

You're pump is probably blocked. First, you should move your fish to somefreshly oxygenated water if it has been more than 24 hours since the pumpstopped working. Here are some other steps to take to determine if you canfix your pump, or if you have to buy a new one:1. Check the air tube connections to the air pump.2. If they are all connected, check that the motor isworking. You can do this by taking the air pipe off the pump, and putting theair outlet on the pump to your face. If the pump is working, you should be able to feel a rush ofair against your face. If you cannot - this means the air pump is not working.3. If there is no aircoming through, remove the tube and pour warm water through it. Remember, your fish should never be in a tank for more than24 hours without a pump or filter to circulate the air!

I just noticed that my fish tank air pump broke. How long can the fish survive with a broken pump?

As long as you have an air filter, your fish will befine. Just like pumps, the air filtersmove air around and oxygenate the water. The air pump is superfluous. If you do decide to purchase another pump, please see thisvideo on how to install it properly:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTnfXgmMTxY

I think I'd go for a second opinion, although he may be right that you need a new one. A lot of aftermarket pumps just aren't as good a quality as OEM pumps. What brand did you put in?
If you have doubts that he thoroughly diagnosed it, try someplace else.
If running tank under a quarter full ruins pumps, I'd think there'd be a lot more ruined pumps on the road than there are.

Check the Oxygen sensors, as they control gas to air ratio. By spider do you mean the Coil Pack? Cam Sensor and Crank sensor? What about a vacuum leak?

You are going to cuss me for this but, according to your description, this did not occur BEFORE you changed the pump, and you have changed it twice. Are you sure you hooked up the external tank and EVAP lines correctly? Are any of the rubber hose's under there rotten? The EVAP system use's vacuum to pull fumes from the gas tank. The EVAP canister is probably behind one of the rear wheels, and up behind the rear fender. Check those hose's too. Check the intake manifold vacuum lines and connectors for leaks and cracks. Better yet, inspect all your vacuum lines.

Broke rear fuel line while replacing the in-tank fuel pump, any suggestions

If its the main feed line you will have to get a new unit that goes into tank, or if there is enought sticking out maybe a compression fitting to connect them together temporary, ( witch i do not recamend because of possible fuel leak) If its the small line thats just a return line and has little pressure and can be fixed with gas line hose and a couple of clamps, but thats a temporary fix also.
