Photos disappear pictures disappear...and there are sometimes multiple folders created on the disk that disappear. the quick start guide doesn't say anything about this...how do i create and access folders and missing photos? at one point, I saw 100NIKON and 101NIKON subfolders under DCIM...now, the 100NIKON folder and its pictures are gone! what happened?

  • Anonymous May 14, 2012

I read the user manual and found that when you take more than 200 photos, a new folder is created automatically. So I understand that...but why do photos disappear?
this is the 2nd time I've lost a lot of photos!!!

Hi,

When I too faced the similar situation like you, I was able to restore all Nikon Coolpix camera pictures by using a tool called Photo Recovery. This tool worked with the best results and this may help you restore your lost pictures. You can visit the below mentioned website for more details.

How transfer photos from computer to pandigital

First...make sure the format of the photos is
compatible with the frame...JPG would be the best
choice.

I'm guessing the frame has an SD memory card?

Do you have an internal or external media reader?

If_Yes_try the following steps......

Insert the SD Card in your media reader and go to...
Start / Computer.

The media reader should be recognized as one or
more Removable Disks and each will have a drive
letter.

Example:
Removable Disk (F:)
Removable Disk (G:)
Removable Disk (H:)

Left click each Removable Disk until you reveal the
Root Directory of the SD Card.

(If not....the frame (connected by USB) may be listed
as a Removable Disk)

OK...now that you know the drive letter...if you right
click a selected group of photos or a complete folder
you should be able to choose...Send to / Removable
Disk (?:)...this should copy the photos to the SD Card.

Be sure the photos are in one or more folders because
the number of photos you can copy to the root directory
will be very limited. And you will receive the following error:

"Cannot copy XXXX: The directory or file cannot be created"

I have a Kodak Easy Share M853 which I love. However, when I connect it to my computer, it takes the pictures that I have taken directly to my Kodak Easy Share account on line. This is really handy;...

There should be an option in the EasyShare online album to save them to the PC - you may have to click on the picture first though. If not, you can right-click on the picture and choose the Save option.

A possibly solution would be to create a folder outside both your accounts to store photos in.

  1. Open My Computer (or Computer in Vista or 7)
  2. Open Local Disk (C:)
  3. Right click and choose New then Folder
  4. Give the folder a sensible name such as Photos
  5. Go to your husband's account and open Start menu
  6. Right click on My Pictures (Pictures in Vista or 7)
  7. Change the path to your new folder eg: C:\photos
  8. Windows will ask whether you wish to move the contents there, choose Yes
  9. Log out of your husband's account
  10. Log into your account and open Start menu
  11. Right click on My Pictures (Pictures in Vista or 7)
  12. Change the path to your new folder eg: C:\photos
  13. Windows will ask whether you wish to move the contents there, choose Yes
  14. Whenever your husband downloads photos into his account they will be accessible on both accounts.

When i try to upload picture to my Computer The screen on the Camera turns black and says USB Mode Mass storage and Memory stick! It just stays like that and does nothing els how do i upload these...

Hi,

The display on your camera shows that the usb connection of your camera is active and communicating with your computer. Right after you plug-in your camera, some computers are set to open an autoplay dialog box, similar to Fig1.

mongkey_5.jpg Don't worry if this dialog box does not open. Some don't because of personal settings made earlier or the proper driver for your camera to be recognized by your computer is not installed. Install appropriate driver and software for your camera. Click this link to download and install them in your computer. Do not forget to choose your Windows version. Fig.2.
mongkey_7.jpg
There are two ways to download your pictures from your camera.
First, through the Picture Motion Browser.
Second, through navigation of your folders and storage disks. These steps are applicable to any other cameras:
· Open "My Computer" or "Computer". It will show you all the storage disks available, similar to Fig.3.

mongkey_6.jpg · Double-click on the Removable Disk assigned for your camera. Commonly, it will show you 2 folders. One of them contains your pictures.
· Select all pictures. Ctrl+A.
· Copy all pictures. Ctrl+C.
· Create a folder in pictures folder then label it.
· Paste all pictures. Ctrl+V. Wait till all pictures are copied into the folder you created.

I hope this works for you. Goodluck!

Transfer pictures from phone to computer. FIFO spam for years on FIXYA.

I found an easy step by step to do this.
  1. Connect the USB cable to the computer and the phone.
  2. In the phone: When you attach the USB cable to the phone, a USB connection window appears, Select File transfer.
  3. On the computer: Open My Computer and your phone will be visible as a removable disk.
  4. Double-click the removable disk.
  5. Here you will find specific folders (depending on your phone model) where your pictures are stored.
  6. Drag and drop or copy and paste the picture from this folder to a folder on your computer.
  7. Disconnect the phone from the USB cable.
The picture is now transferred to your computer.

Hope this helps

I bought a brand new set of DVD-R disc. How do I transfer photos sent to me by email onto the disc? If I try to copy the items on to it, all I get is an error message. Please help.

You should Save all the emailed photos to a folder (pre created) on your desktop or any place where you will easily find that folder. Click on the PAPER CLIP on the email and choose SAVE AS .... Then "save as" to that folder which you have created. Sometime people "insert" pictures instead of attach them to email messages. Those "inserted" ones you ..... Right click on each of them and then choose COPY.... Then go to the folder you have created earlier and (on any clean space in there" right click and choose PASTE.
Once all that is done you go into the folder which you have created in the beginning. Go to EDIT at the top of the folder's menu. Choose SELECT ALL... then go to FILE on the top menu and choose (lower down) SENT TO and then in the next window that pops up you choose CD. Then a window will appear in the right bottom corner of your computer screen that says WRITE FILES TO CD.... Click on it and then of the menu on the left you must choose WRITE TO CD NOW... (something in that line) and it will (if you have a blank CD in the drive) start recording those pictures to the CD. REMEMBER a CD can only take 70 megabytes of data. So if you choose too many pictures it may tell you the DATA is too much to copy to the CD. a DVD can take over 4,000 megabyte of data ... So maybe rather use a blank DVD to do that

I have a folder of photos on my camera which I can see on the computer but I cannot see on the camera when I go on the Quick View. How can I see the folder of photos on my camera?

did you put the folder onto the camera using a PC ?
Most cameras make their own file structure, and so you cannot view any added folders. You would have to put the picutres into the folders created by the camera -  usually Card\DCIM\100_1  or similar.
Dont create folders on your card, always put the files into the correct folder.
