Hi from uk the switch you mention is called the inhibitor switch which prevents cars engine from being started if in gear but allows starts only if in either neutral or park mode question? do you hear click on key start position? or just nothing? may i suggest you check the starter solenoid which is on starter and has positive cable from starter attached along with a thinner cable? also you will/should see a thin wire also connected to the solenoid on a seperate teminal this is the wire from key start ign switch and when key turned to start energises the starter into operation /turn engine ensure this wire is clean/secure? one other thing to check is the earth/ground lead that runs from chassis/body and connects to engine usually in vicinity of rear of engine? all above is assuming that your battery is ok?? hope this helps?

Won't start and light flashing saying it's in neutral when it's in park?

If your 2002 Renault Laguna won't start and the gear indicator light is flashing, it's likely that there is an issue with the neutral safety switch. This switch is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle can only be started in Park or Neutral, and if it's malfunctioning, it may prevent the engine from starting.
You can try shifting the gear lever between Park and Neutral a few times to see if that resolves the issue. If not, you may need to have the neutral safety switch inspected or replaced by a qualified mechanic. Other potential causes of a no-start condition include a dead battery, a faulty starter motor, or a clogged fuel filter.

Why my 2002 Altima won't start?

There could be several reasons why your 2002 Altima won't start even though the engine is turning over. Here are some common causes to consider:
  1. Fuel system issues: If the fuel pump, fuel filter, or fuel injectors are not functioning properly, then the engine may not be getting enough fuel to start. You can check the fuel pressure and fuel pump relay to see if they are the issue.
  2. Ignition system problems: If the spark plugs, ignition coil, or ignition module are not working correctly, then the engine may not be getting the spark it needs to start. You can check the spark plugs and ignition coil to see if they need to be replaced.
  3. Battery issues: If the battery is dead or not providing enough power to start the engine, then the engine may not start. Check the battery voltage and connections to make sure they are in good condition.
  4. Starter problems: If the starter motor is not working correctly, then the engine may not start. You can check the starter relay and wiring to see if they are the problem.
  5. Mechanical issues: If there are any problems with the engine's timing, compression, or other mechanical issues, then the engine may not start. This would require a more in-depth diagnosis by a mechanic.
It's best to have a professional mechanic inspect your car to determine the root cause of the problem and make any necessary repairs.

2002 jaguar , the battery is brand new, so I believe its good, all accesories turn on, radio heat/ac, but the vehicle will not start, wondering if thats alternator, starter or what??

It would not be the alternator since it only works when the engine is running. Could be the starter, the neutral safety switch, or a wiring issue. I am assuming the anti-theft system is functioning.
Someone would need to check for power at the starter to proceed.

How to fixed wont start engine..

test the following and fix it. GOD BLESS you.fe35589e-c7d2-4fa3-a813-99841956a6cb.gif
If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to the "Start" position, it means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery;
If the battery checks out OK, but the starter still won't crank, there could be a number of possible reasons. Here are some of them:

The ignition switch could be bad - it's a common problem. An ignition switch is an electrical switch installed at the back of the ignition lock mechanism. If jiggling the key in the ignition helps start the car, the ignition switch should be checked first.
The starter solenoid control wire could have a bad connection.
The starter motor itself or a starter solenoid could be bad.
A neutral safety switch is bad. If a car doesn't start with the transmission in Park, but starts in Neutral, it could be caused by a problem with a neutral safety switch.
.
A problem with vehicle's security system or some other electronic control module (e.g., ECM, BCM) may also prevent the starter from operating.

Does the crankshaft turn by hand ?
Have you checked for voltage at the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch ?

Car wont crank, could it be fuel pump

If the engine will not crank and you know the battery is good, a mechanic would check for voltage at the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch.
If the security light stays on, you have a problem with the passkey system.
A fuel pump problem will not prevent the engine from cranking.

My buick will not turn over sometimes and the stater is good

A number of items could cause this.

1 Worn shift linkage causing the neutral safety switch to not go into PARK or NEUTRAL.

2 Defective neutral safety switch

3 Cracked wire in the ignition switch, causing the anti theft system to prevent engine from starting

4 One or two bad commutator plates on the starter armature. If the starter stops so that the brushes land on the defective plate, the starter won't work. When it lands on a good one, it will. This requires replacement of the starter.

Long story short, you need a skilled mechanic to diagnosis this.
