Might be some loose solder terminal/s at its horizontal output section. The set should be checked.

Why does my TV keep turning off while I'm trying to return it

There could be a number of reasons why your Alba TV is turning off after just a few seconds. Some common causes include:
  1. Power supply issues: If the power supply to the TV is not stable, it can cause the TV to turn off. Check if there are any loose connections or faulty cables.
  2. Overheating: If the TV is overheating, it can shut off to protect itself. Ensure that the vents and fan are clear of any obstructions and the TV is not in a location that is too hot.
  3. Faulty remote: Sometimes, a faulty remote can cause the TV to turn off by itself. Try removing the batteries from the remote and see if the issue persists.
  4. Faulty hardware: If the TV's hardware is faulty, it can cause the TV to turn off. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as a defective power supply or a malfunctioning circuit board.
If none of these solutions work, it's possible that the TV is defective and needs to be returned for a replacement or repair.

Hi. I have an ALBA LCD32880HDF television which I purchased in August 2009 so just outside warrenty. I have been on holiday for a week and had switched the television off at the wall and returned home...

hi all the black screen solution for me was this (this is assuming you have alba brand tvs and have the black screen BUT can still hear the sound) i after much fekkin around with it eventually found the solution in it (its the bloody backlight brightness in the settings you need to turn it from high TO LOW) ....... now this can be a bit tricky because usually when you have the black screen problem if u unplug the tv for a few hours and plug it back in you only get or should get probably like 30-1min of picture time before the picture goes black so u have to be reallllly fast with the menu button to get into settings before the picture dies (i learned the sequence for my alba lcd32880hdf) it was the following (for this part use the remotes arrows the one with the ok button usually in the centre of them) turn the tv on then click menu then press the up key 2 times then press ok then use the right arrow/button twice (although u cant see what ur doing ur navigating the menu hehe) then press the down arrow/button seven times before finally pressing the left arrow/button (once) <-- (now this bit may need to be done twice if you can remember setting ur backlight to max use it twice it will put it on minimum if in doubt only press it the once remember to totally power the tv off before repeating the steps to reset menus default posistions) remember thats the solution i found for my tv stands to reason (since i did infact buy another tv same brand different model which got the same problem) that this could be a solution for all alba tv users try it worked for me 2 times if ur not sure of the menu look up you tv models menu navigation online to find out the buttons you press gl hopefully it works for you too

What do I do when my Emerson TV keeps turning off by itself?

I had the same problem with mine turning off after 3-5 seconds. After much research I found a suggestion that on some combo units the vcr part could have a power supply cutout if it is not working correctly. I tried to insert a tape and found that the tape mechanism would not accept a tape. I used a little bit of force and managed to insert a tape. I then played the tape forwards and backwards and the power stayed on! I ejected the tape and found the TV then worked just fine. The power has now been on for over one hour. I hope this give you another avenue to try and fix your problem.

My Tv is turning off by itself

if all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.
