(The build for this product is September 2008). The Installation Guide (welcome screen, etc.) did not appear when I set up the converter box with an RCA TV. I managed to get the Zenith remote to turn on (and off) the TV, and to shift the converter box from standby (blue) to on (red). But none of the functions work, no menu appears when menu button is pressed, etc. My old remote still works with the TV to increase volume, etc., but none of the converter box commands work with the old TV remote (nor with the new Zenith converter box remote.) The picture seems improved by the converter box. But could you please tell me how I can program the new Zenith remote to control the new Zenith converter box? I would like to be able to access the menu, guide, etc. I tried using remote codes, but nothing accessed the converter box menu, channel scanner, etc. Your guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Please note that the Product Number of the Zenith Digital TV Converter to which my inquiry refers is DTT901. The reference to DBZN-311 above was not supplied by me. I do not recognize that Product Number. Thank you. --Shijyosho.
I have exactly the same problem. I've tried connecting with both the RF cable and the A/V input cables. (I've tried A/Vs only, RF only, or both at the same time.) Neither the menu nor the Install Guide will show up, whether the TV is set to channel 3, 4, Video 1, Video 2.... etc.
Could this have something to do with my VCR/DVD setup? I have separate VCR and DVD players, which used to be linked to the TV through A/V inputs and the Antenna In cable.
I could try re-routing the whole setup so that my A/V cords run from the Zenith converter into the DVD player, and from there into the TV. I have no idea if this will make a difference.
I did try installing the converter before I had a digital antenna, and the Install Guide came up (but obviously couldn't locate any channels). I don't know why it would not want to appear now that there is an antenna connected.
Help!
I had this problem initially. After reading the response above, I set the TV to Channel 3 and tried calling up the set-up menu. It took maybe 30 seconds to appear, but it came up and I'm now watching TV with the best resolution I've ever had. Note: the blue light on the converter has to be on.
