Digitizer not very responsive at all after replacement

Hey everyone. My digitizer stopped working so i ordered a new 1 of eBay and did the long tricky bit of installing it. now the screen comes on and everything but it is still not responding properly. if i keep trying to slide the unlock slider many times, sometimes it eventually works, and when i get into my iPhone i can do stuff but the response level is awful, sometimes doing what it wants (a strange type of lag) and forget about typing the closest thing to "hello" i could write was "heo" and that was with a lot of effort, i realize that sometimes the bottom half on iPhones stop working but overall i tested it and all corners seem to respond to touch (eventually/when and if it wants to). if it changes anything, this was the issue i had to begin with (before replacing digitizer) but i think it was a little worse... i'm no super noob when it comes to electronics, fixed many iPods, PCs, electronics etc.... so i dont think it was a case of me being a fat figerd drunk n blind giant. mega desperate. if you know anything please chuck me some advice. SOURCE: iphone lower strip of touchscreen not working

The digitizer is damaged on your iPhone. Since it is a 2G I would advise against repairing this unit because on the 2G model you cannot replace only the Digitizer. Instead you have to purchase the LCD, the Digitizer, and the glass panel. All in all this totals up to over $100 in parts even if you buy off of eBay.
Don't get suckered into buying only the digitizer because it won't fix your issue because the Digitizer is glued to the LCD and the glass panel.
Your best bet is to sell the unit AS IS for parts or repair on eBay or Craigslist. Alternatively I can offer to buy the unit from you as I have the parts and knowledge to complete this repair and much less than it would cost you to do it yourself.

SOURCE: The top inch of my iPhone has stopped responding

Yes, most definitely it is the digitizer. The iPhone display consists of 3 parts. The outer glass that your finger actually touches, the LCD screen that brings you the picture and the digitizer that senses your touch. You can purchase a new digitizer at several Ebay stores for under $15. I would only recommend letting someone perform this repair if they have done it before. It's not very difficult, however there are very delicate ribbon cables that can be broken if it is pulled apart too quickly. I hope this helps you!

How to reset pandigital touch screen if will unlock but touch screen wont work

Does the touchscreen work at all? If not then I would say the digitizer/ screen is bad. The screen may look fantastic, but part of it is that the the sensor is gone. (Digitizer) you can order a new one on ebay for a few bucks

Hi.
Your digitizer needs to be replaced.
Go to this address. You can purchase 1 and have a cell repair shop replace the digitizer for you.

Touch screen did not work

I write this tip for Palm Pda's but it is valid for many other brands of pda's and phones.

First things to try is a normal reset and then a hard reset.

To do a normal reset, press on the reset button on your handheld.

Hard reset is performed differently on different models, check palm website for hard reset instructions: CLICK HERE FOR PALM RESET INFO PAGE

if the touchscreen doesn't work at all, and you can't align or calibrate it, or it presses on wrong spots even after calibrating many times, digitizer (which is the touch part on top of the lcd display) is most likely broken and would need to be replaced. On rare cases reattaching digitizer cable and making sure that the digitizer is clean and intact and properly on its position may solve the issue.

If you are inside warranty the repair may be completely free, contact your dealer or palm.

Outside of warranty, you have 3 options.

  1. Replace digitizer yourself, you can find a replacement from ebay.
  2. Send it to palm for out of warranty repairs, probably around 100usd.
  3. Take it to a local professional who can replace digitizer for you.
Thanks, let me know if you have any questions and good luck.
Ekse
Note: In some phones the digitizer may be connected into the lcd in away that it can't be easily replaced. In these cases You will have to replace the whole screen. if the touch is non responsive after the replacement, the issue could be with the connector or then you have a faulty main board.
thanks

Xda orbit, screen cracked but display ok yet touch function not working?

Digitizer glass is broken, LCD underneath is OK. Replacing the digitizer is tricky even if you get the right one. Often just as cheap to buy the complete replacement digitizer+LCD for around $20 shipped on eBay.

Sci phone disabled touch screen

Hey.. The problem with the i68's and i9's (Or the other Sci versions of the CECT's is the flex cable connecting the digitizer to the mainboard.. It's a easy fix, and will cost you about $8 on Ebay.. Look for a replacement touchscreen for your model and order it.. then, google the phone model and find the directions on taking them apart.. I have successfully repaired about 50 of them so far.. :)
Hope that helps!!
