The problem with the television simply is that the lamp is bad and need to be replaced. When you were having the flashing standby light, it was simply indicating that there is a problem inside the unit. The problem could be from anywhere inside the unit.
Since you have checked the power board and saw that it was okay, it is qiute clear that the problem is not from the power board as it was powering up but the main board was not using up the power that is why the power light was flashing.
The solution to this problem is for you to check the main board and other boards in the television for bad capacitors. Have them replaced once they are found and then check the lamp of the television. That also should be replaced and the teleivision should be in good shape once again.

Does the backlight come on? or even flash on and off when the TV is switched on? I presume the standby light is showing 'blue' then. Do you have any sound? Also, when the TV remote is pressed, does the standby light flicker?
i had this with my samsung and my mums instead of pressing red power button press either switch from analog tv to digital button or just press a number
