It might, somes companies won't honour warranty unless you have 3 to 5 dead pixels. Go to www.samsung.com and contact customer support to see what can be done.

That is LCD panel problem, you can try reseating the ribbon cable between the logic board and the LCD panel just to see if it will come an go. Also check all the electrolytic caps.

SOURCE: My brightness monitor appears in

Hi

It's likely you have a sticky button.

Look carefully to see if you have a Menu button, enter the control panel and use the arrow buttons to scroll to the exit icon and then press menu again to manually exit.

I hope this helps.

My tv screen has a black spot

HI,
Are you sure that there is balck dot on the sreen. Check one more time is it any dust on the screen.
Black spot Means pixel of the Lcd sreen is fault. There are thousands of pixels in an lcd screen. when any of the pixel or a group of pixels become faulty the black spot will appear. Its not possile to rectify the problem other than replacing the LCD panle if its avilable. The avilability of lcd screen is very rare.

It has more than 10 black dots

Your LCD screen therefore has more than 10 dead pixels. The pixels have died and will not come back to life. If this monitor is under warranty you will be able to claim warranty support.

If this is not the case and the pixels are destracting, you may get a LCD technician to replace the LCD screen. Another option is to purchase a new LCD monitor.

Take care!

I have a green dot on my flat LCD TV, how do I get rid of it?

At the LCD pannels may appear dead pixels. You can not solve this problem.

If your monitor is in the waranty period, you can address to your vendor to see if it's possible to replace your monitor. Every LCD producer have own waranty strategy.

I HAVE RED DOTS ALL OVER ANY BLACK COLOR OF THE PICTURE

Could be whats known as dead pixels, this is tested be showing up a black or white screen. Microsoft paint or word will do. If an area always has dots then dead pixel. However if it doesn't constantly remain a dot then, some-thing else. Dead pixels come about due to age.
A technician will be able to diagnose your problem by performing white screen test.

What does it mean by dead cells?

I assume this is related to your LCD monitor.
I think you mean dead pixels. The LCD monitor has tiny pixel elements, one for each red, blue, green color and each one of these colored pixels are turnes on by a transistor. When a transistor fails then the colored pixel it controls does not light up. This is a dead pixel and it shows up as a tiny black dot.
If the screen displays a blue screen, a dead blue pixel will appear as a tiny black dot in the blue screen.
You normally would not notice a few dead pixels unless they are grouped together.

Black spots appeared on 17" LCD Monitor-SyncMaster740N

you might have what you call "dead pixels" or a "stuck pixel" try a simple test like this one now it is not the most creative one, but it does help to see if that is the case. u might be able to Fix a STUCK pixel, but unfortunately you can not fix a "DEAD pixel" simply because it is DEAD.
try this website for simple fix instructions.
if is dead pixel what you have, if u can live with it, great, if not , it might be a good reason to get yourself an another monitor.

Good luck

Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several

If these are single pixels on the LCD screen, they are normal. From pg. 8 of the user's guide:

"The LCD monitor is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD monitor. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the images in any way. "

This may also be helpful.

"images may trail across the LCD monitor in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. When turning on the camera in a cold location, the LCD monitor may become temporarily dark. "

Monitor

Sylvia,

It's seems you had a stuck pixal... Turn your monitor off and try this tips: Wn't work in every case. It may take a few attempts to make sure you are pressing exactly on the dead pixel. These instructions will fix "stuck" pixels, not "dead" ones, like red, blue or green. An alternative, but similar technique involves gently massaging the stuck pixel with a warm damp soft cloth.Alternative technique to tapping: Using a rounded pencil eraser, push with moderate pressure into screen at stuck pixel.
Good lucks!
