Dimage Z5 lens and screen problems

When I switch on my Z5 the lens makes a noise for a few seconds after the power has come on and the internal viewscreen flickers at the same time. There is also a semi-circular mask on the top right of the screen which carries over to any images.

When i turned my camara on, when the lens goes outside there is a little vibration and then the in the left corner of the image is dark.

You probably have a broken/loose spring in the anti-shake unit. The dark spot is the lens "seeing" the edge of the housing. The noise is the anti-shake trying to adjust itself and you are seeing the result on the screen. If you zoom in a bit, you will see the shadow disappear as the lens moves past the edge.

Minolta has been bought by Sony and they're very tight with parts for repair. Unfortunately, it'll have to be repaired by Sony. Go here for details: http://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do

I dropped my konica minolta dimage a200 and now when i turn it on the screen shakes and anti-shake does not work

The tracking servo motors and associated gears are damaged or misaligned. The purpose of these servos are to automatically adjust the lens positioning so that it seems the camera is almost stationary. When the anti shake is enabled, the lens locks onto a target and if the target moves, the servos move the lens to compensate for the offset. If you are experiencing screen shaking it means that the lens is trying to adjust but cannot because the servo system is damaged. It's quite possible that only one servo motor is functioning and the other is loose. It will require in shop repair.

Camera won't stay on, even with new batteries that I know are charged.

Ensure you are using alkaline batteries and that battery contacts have no oxide or liquid on top of them. If you do not use alkaline batteries this is normal.
If batteries are ok is a short circuit.

I have almost identical issue with a Dimage Z5 (Konica/Minolta). I have had the...

Many digital cameras (eg Samsung D53, Nikon 2100) have extremely poor battery life with alkaline batteries (under 20 shots!). Sometimes they won't even take a single picture.

Try using rechargeable batteries or "oxyride" disposable batteries. They perform infinately better.

My Konica Minolta Dimage z5 won't play back photos

What size memory card are you using? I have had this problem trying to use a a 4gb card, which apparently is not compatible with the Z5. Using a 2gb card seems to alleviate the problem.

Same SD card problem with Dimage Z5

Your Card may need to be formatted. to fix this problem:
[note- before you start, make sure that your SD Card is blank, or that the information is unimportant, because formatting your card will erase all of the information.]

1) Plug the card into your computer, if you can, in the SD slot, or use a USB - SD transformer to plug your card into a USB port.

2) After its plugged in, go to 'My Computer'.

3) Right Click on the drive its plugged it into

4) press format

5) Make sure all of the correct settings are on and start the format.

now your SD card is formatted and should work in your camera and you can continue taking pictures. YEA :^)

Konica Minolta DiMage Z5

The odds are you have a broken spring in the anti-shake assembly which has allowed the lens unit to shift to one side. The smudge you are seeing is the edge of the lens housing and will have a slight rounded shape. As you zoom in, you are extending the lens past this area so it no longer shows.
