Please check your model number it is coming up as a 20" monitor!

if screen black but green light on then is inverter was bad.
if screen black n green light off or amber then check then monitor defective.
Try with different monitor and result the same problem, either the monitor or the video connection.

try in menu auto adjustment and factory reset......
you can also play with frequency a little and color setup , clock and clock phase in Image control menu, play with it and you will see result... then save it...

Hook a spare monitor to the computer, if okay! the problem is with the HP monitor "LCD panel defective" not cost effective to repair. But if symptoms are the same for both, the video graphics card on the computer is defective, sub a video cord from the computer to the monitor if possible to cover all angles.

sign of overheating circuit, have it serviced..

Make sure in the control panel under power options you change the settings so the screen doesn't go into sleep mode and make sure the display doesn't turn of. Do this by changing the times to never.

Well sure, if you don't mind pay double the prices... My advised, give yourself a new monitor, since the holidays is coming... saved you the headached and $$$...
