My screen has got thick black bars going across the screen and i can't seem to move them or get rid of them.
Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if okay! the LCD panel display is defective, only option replace! go to www.ebay.com Type make and model of laptop, refine search to screen. However! if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card.

This is caused by dead pixel sensors. There are hundreds of pixel sensors at the edges of the screen, when they go out it will cause a line varying in size depending on the amount of sensors that go out, and the line can vary in color, red, blue, green, white, and black. Unfortunately, the only fix for this is to replace the screen.

sounds like the screen settings are out, try changing the screen settings, not sure which button it is though i rarely play around with laptops
