Hi, it sounds like you need to change the drum. If you are using the High Yield TN660 toner is your printer, then the drum needs changing every 3-4 toners. If using the low yield TN6300 toner then your drum needs to be replaced every 6-7 toners. Hope this helps

I can not get my printer to work it has all lights blinking

It indicates Fuser Malfunction. When any of the following error is indicated, turn the printer Off, wait 5 seconds and then turn the printer On again.

If the alarm continues, perform a Factory Reset:
  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer.
  3. Turn the printer back on.
  4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button.
  5. Hold in the circular button on the front panel again.
  6. Once the Alarm light comes on, let go of the button.
  7. This has performed a factory reset on the printer.

All the lights are flashing on the printer. I have already replaced the drum and the toner. What can I do next?

ready and alarm light blinking means paper jam, so carefully check paper path. open and take out drum unit, and from backside open cover and check fuser sensors.
even small piece of paper can cause this (or maybe some sensors are broken or not working)
Hope it helps

Brother 5250dn drum light blinking; I think drum is ok because I put drum from another working printer and the drum light continued to blink.

The drum light is on due to a preset counter to notify you that the drum has reached the end of Normal Usage life expectancy. It doesn't mean that it has failed, yet...but soon. I would suggest having a new drum on hand for when print quality starts failing. Either new drum units have a reset fuse in them to clear the warning light, or there is a reset proceedure to use after installing the new drum unit.

Power went out and back on; now printer won't print

I had the same problem after a resent power outage. Here's what fixed mine.

Turn the power switch off.
Wait a 15-20 seconds
While holding the button on the front panel down turn the power switch on.
After the drum light comes on release the button wait then press the button again.
Turn the machine off then back on again and you should be back in business.

To prevent the problem in the future if you are not using the printer turn it off and if the power goes off while printing get the printer turned off before the power comes back.

Brothers HL 1240 Alarm light on

Pull the drum out the front door, remove the toner cartridge and check for any paper and remove it.

Make sure there is toner in the toner cartridge. Look at the lights on the printer. Look at the labels beside them. The label "Toner" will have two lines going to two lights. If those two lights are on when you try to print, you are out of toner. But a now toner and install it in the drum. Install the drum back into the printer.

If not, look at the drum. At the rear top is an opening across the whole drum. Look inside it, you will see a metal grid. That grid must be clean or it will cause small sparks. These sparks will cause a false toner empty error. Buy a can of compressed air from Best Buy (or wherever). Use this compressed air to blow clean the grid. Move the small blue tab at one side of the opening ti the other side and back again. Reinstall the drum and try printing again.

If neither of those help, write back and let me know what lights stay on when the printer stops.

Printer not working

On this printer, the alarm and data lights mean that the toner cartridge is empty. When you replace the toner, be sure to slide the corona wire cleaner across and back. This is the small light blue plastic piece on top of the drum cartridge. You'll see a small arrow in the plastic. Just slide it back and forth once or twice each time you replace the toner cartridge.
