Perform a power reset.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
With the printer turned on , disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Wait at least 30 seconds. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
Update the firmware on the printer. I have included the url.

it is a physical brocken piece that supports scanner mechanism.
if you open that plate /scanner mechanism and if you drill that plastic sheet and try some manufactureed alluminium or metal projection and place it in the hole drilled by you and put washer and screew so that that supports ;the scanner mechanism and your scanner /printer works . the scanner mechanism may costs you around 3,000-00 rupees.

The problem is that the motor that drives the scanner probably overheated and because of the cheap plastic that HP used it melted important points that the motor relis on...so - remove the glas of the scanner(there are some screws - one of them hidden under the label of the panel,unhook the interface cable of the panel).Now you should see the scanner - flip it over and look at the motor exle and the gear that it should mesh with - they are not aligned at this time.To fix it i used 2 small pieces of plastic - sticked it under the motor so that it can not move in vertical direction anymore.
