Fill the kayak using a hose and the drain-hole. every ocean kayak has a drain-plug. with water going into the shell, any holes will show up. Drain water and use.

You can, but it's all about compromise ? and safety. Generally, the shorter the boat the easier it will turn (great for rivers and white water), but the slower you'll be getting from point A to point B. The longer the boat (most sea kayaks) the better it generally tracks and the faster and safer it travels through water.

I read all the reviews of the boat I could find, all were VERY positive, all said the boat was very stable in all water conditions, the only draw back comment I ran across is that it is fairly heavy, but that is due to its rugged design, so really you can't have it both ways.
